Ah, sangria and sangrita, not the same thing.
I think Bumper is referring to the shots of orange and tomato juice with a dash of hot stuff. We watched the bartenders at La Ranita make it and have been experimenting at home ever since. We brought home some of those great heavy shot glasses with the blue rim on our last trip and they are perfect for sipping sangrita. I make it like this:
In a shot glass pour 1/3 fresh orange juice, 2/3 tomato juice and several dashes of Tabasco (I like it hot). You may want to adjust the mix to your own taste. Experimenting with proportions is half the fun! Alternate sips of sangrita with tequila. It's the perfect combo.
