Can't believe some people are saying don't bother with Cozumel. We went over again this year and had fab day. My son is certainly not the best traveller and even tho we went through an enormous storm during the crossing, he was fine. We hired a car for £35 for the day and had a leisurely drive around the east side. You can't go wrong driving on Cozumel - basically one road round the east side. We stopped at our favourite beach for a dip and had fresh lobster at the bar across the road - glorious. We went on the 10am ferry and caught the 5pm back. Very relaxing and no hassle.
But as each to his own - and there are loads of beautiful places to explore on mainland. Been 4 times now and still need to get to Coba!!

I think the key is to enjoy your vacation. You don't want to spend soo much time running around that you miss out on the best part. Relaxing and enjoying your anniversary and the wonderful people you will be meeting!

Ray in Pa,
hey , we just got back from near Playa - our first time too and I also get motion sick.
Just have your wife take gravol-they have ginger now which doesnt make you sleepy! I wouldnt do the boat to Cozumel as someone else said-just cause depending on the current -it could be rough and then yea ;you dont want to see lunch again.

She might like 5th avenue;its shopping all day long It is hot though-and humid, i had to make a pit stop at dairy queen! hahahah(excuses eh....;P))\
and we also did horse back riding
I was fine on there, it was interesting, only cause my horse was stubborn.
his name was sleepy!
and we also went to the Cenotes-swam there
THE ONLY problem i had was in the shuttle feeling closed in and then we had to stop at other ppls hotels to pick up others that were to go along with you on the excursions! make me so dizzy-stop and start and the traffic is stop and start ---they have these weird speed BUMPS in the road out of the blue!
weird
anyhow i miss it allready
have fun!
