Yes, exxxcellent mojitos, but I like those frozen drinks also...Love their food. My favorite place to eat in Playa.

However, this last February when I was there, I decided that the one downtown was WAY too loud and stressful, especially at the bar, which is a drag, because it is most convenient,

Soooo, I went to the one further up 5th and it was divine, in fact, I think the food was better there also, could be my imagination, but the hustle downtown was making it hard to digest leisurely....way too fast/loud/stressful for me---EXCEPT the one downtown is nice for lunch. I could easily eat every meal at this place, except that my conscience makes me also eat good Mexican food...

What are your favorite dishes? How much do you usually spend on say a late lunch/ early dinner? Is the one that's a bit further still done in the same decor? I love vintage/pinup art and that's what caught my eye about this place. I'll be staying at an AI (my first!) so I'd like to find 1 or 2 'special' places to try during my week there when I venture off the resort onto 5th Ave. I'll also be traveling alone.

We prefer the babes in the northend of playa around 28-30th. Max is a great waiter and always remembers us from year to year.

Same decor uptown as downtown-but uptown has way more Outside tables and I also like to eat at the bar - which upstown eating at the bar is less maddening because the kitchen is further away and more out of sight

Downtown- before I detected the stress factor of downtown, I would prefer the bar for eating dinner and still prefer downtown for lunch-sit outside.

Honestly, everything is good. I can't memorize their menu, but I've never been disappointed. It is a healthier version of thai-more veggies, etc. if you eat there too often (as I have) you can get burnt out on the same old veggies, there shoud be more veggie variety in dishes...I typically don't care what I spend on meals while on vacation ( I also love street vendors),,,,but there I would say $10 lunch and $15/$20 dinner w/2 drinks-can't remember....

We love Babes and eat there at least twice every trip. I have to admit I didn't feel that well after one meal this year, but I'm not completely sure it had to do with the food. We always order chicken and cheese rolls (very good), swedish meatballs and some kind of dish with arrancera, spinach, mushrooms and mash potatoes (excellent as well).

There is only one thing I'd love them to change and that is the cuttlery bucket on the table. Every table has a bucket with forks, knives, spoons and chopsticks and all the cuttlery is facing the way you have to grab it by the part you eat with. I always wash my hands before the meal (or at least use wetwipes), but I'm sure most people don't. It just seem unnecessarily unhygenic.

It's great because you can order "half" orders of most dishes and try a half of this and a half of that!
