we just bought some and put it in the yard as it's supposed to be salt and heat tolerant so good as a pool edge groundcover... i just heard it was edible, but haven't tried to eat any yet...
here's a shot of ours taken over the weekend: ![]()

you REALLY don't like her, do you?? ![]() as an aside, she did take a bite out of my crazy-ass ruellia yesterday because the dogs were chewing it... I made her spit it out... but I'm sure she wouldn't be hard to persuade to try it...

Cornell University has a link: here
I have had it-although it was a long time ago. A person on a plant walk collected different wild plants like Miner's lettuce and wild water cress, as well as purslane. It was good--not great, but good ![]() I liked the sauteed chanterelles more than the salad ![]() I have also had sauteed dandelions, but I seem to remember that you have to soak the alkaloids out first, in a couple of different soakings/boilings--which also takes away and C or B vitamins

![]() But that is the common name for all Portulaca.... All of them belong to the "Purslane family" I was just concerned that the grandiflora (Garden flowering species) may have more toxic compounds than the typical weed-type that is edible. For example tomatoes and deadly purple nightshade are in the same family... |
