Derecho

We had one of these rare storms here yesterday morning.

90+ mph winds, rain.

Over 150,000 people without power as of this morning.
It will be 4-5 days before I get power back to my house.
It is a disaster here.

Sorry to read this. Why does it take so long for the power company to react?

Whoa, that sucks, sorry to hear this. I guess we are lucky that storm didn't hit us after you.

When there is over 150,000 people without power over a 100 mile radius, it will take a long time.

There are power poles ripped out of the ground, blown over, crushed by trees.
Its bad

Hey TJ,

Glad you're ok, we just got a bit of that last night here in Cincinnati and there were all kinds of tree limbs down, power out, etc... Hang in there.

So sorry to hear that Tyler. I am happy to hear that you are okay.
We get those freaky winds--but not with rain. It must be a mess...I hope your home is not damaged.

Appearently we had the same system
roll thru the Des Moines metro area Monday around 5:00 am.
Power flickered at home but didn't go out.
Thought I read that 10,000 lost power in the state.
Suburbs to the northeast got heavy damage from the wind.
We've had bad weather since last November.
Towns still recovering from flooding and a couple tornados.
Life in the midwest.
It does bring people together. I believe Iowans, as a whole
are some of the most caring, friendly people I've ever met.
Hang in there TJ.
Craig.

UPDATE:

Power workers are slowly getting everyone up and running, now at 50,000 people without power. I am still without power at my house, lost everything in my fridge, deep freezer, but we are working through all this. I am staying with a friend who has power. We are keeping our hopes up that all power is up by the end of the week.
