quick question on RPDC
I'm looking for an adults only, all inclusive resort within walking distance of 5th ave. We are about to book the Royal, but I was wondering if there are any other options in Playa that would be worth looking in to? Any suggestions?

unless something has changed since I was there in Oct. RPDC is the only adults within walking distance to PDC. There is the Royal Hideaway, which is also wonderful-a bit further of a walk and technically it's not adults only-think the age is 13 and up. There's also the Playacar Palace, which is right in PDC and is supposed to be nice. It isn't adults only either, but I hear they really don't have much for kids to do so it's not a popular family resort. We have stayed at the RPDC and Royal Hideaway and liked Royal Hideaway better, but that was b/c we were on our honeymoon and it was a nice and quiet resort. We were also there a few years back when there was still a great beach at that location-not the case anymore.

I'll disagree with DUNMAC. There are screaming children at the beach. It's public. Other than that, I would highly recommend the hotel. The rooms are gorgeous, the food high quality, and the service right up there.

Oh, I was there last August for a week and I agree with Dunmac. We didn't witness a single screaming child at the beach or at the resort.
It was so nice, we're going back in January. I definitely don't think you'll be disappointed if you choose the Royal. |

I agree with them as well it is a great resort that is so close to town... We liked it so much that we have booked two return trips... We stayed in April by the way and never saw any children unless you walk north on the beach

It's our first time down to Playa and the Royal but the reasons mentioned in this thread (no kids, close to 5th, etc) are the reasons that we choose this resort.

[We'll be down there at the same time. We're arriving on August 9th and staying through the 23rd. Maybe we'll run into you.[/quote]
Congratulations on the wedding!!! They do a really nice job on weddings at the Royal. I will be with 7 pretty loud friends, so you will see us for sure. Have a safe trip down. |
