Fishermen's Village time share difficulties

We purchased a studio at Fishermen's Village in July 2000, one week a year for 15 years and 2 weeks of VIP for 15 years. The VIP was sold as a way to upgrade to a one or two bedroom at Fishermens or other Interclub/RCI when ever we wanted to.

I am now being told that we can not use our VIP weeks at Fishermen's. Also we are only being allowed to have one studio week per year at Fishermen's even though our contract says that we can accelerate the usage so that in one year we could use up to three studio weeks and 6 VIP weeks.

Please let me know if you have had similar problems and/or suggestions about what to do.

Fishermens Village

We have had similar problems as well. :x
I faxed a copy of our accelerated use page out of our contract and was extremely insistent on getting 2 studios as the contract allowed. We are going to be there in late Nov, we will be having a very detailed conversation with the new management at that time. My advice is push and keep pushing until you get what you want. Like you we purchased the same pkg in Aug 2000. I have had some problems getting what I want, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease in this matter. There are past post that talk about a members group, you may want to read up on that.
Good Luck

Fishermen's deception

LAR,
Sent you a private message and also posted on the earlier FV topic.

Monicay, Please keep in touch before you go down. I've got a list of other members who also are upset. There's power in numbers! We're all experiencing the same problems so this is a deceptive practice they intend to continue doing. Don't be placated by them "fixing" it for you this year!

For all, I'm posting this info here to warn some before purchasing and those who have purchased that we need to be more than squeaky; how about a roar!

Beware of the deceptive practices that they are using to sell at FV. They tell you these lies when you are buying and then refuse to honor them with reservations.
1) You can accelerate your weeks and use several in one year.
2) You get VIP weeks which can be used at FV up to 6 in one year and to upgrade to larger units.
3) Maintenance fees will increase no faster than the rate of inflation
4) Reservations will be made within 24 hours of request
5) Now they are saying that VIP weeks can't be used at FV. Don't believe them. They can and have been used there.

The problem is they always say there is no availability when requesting rooms. It is tricky because they do have in the contract "subject to availability" and you must request no more than 60 days in advance for the VIP weeks. However, I believe they are lying about availability as well. Anyone who has a contract at Fishermen's should realize that they have been scammed in this way. The only recourse that I see is to join as a group and through collective power pressure them to honor the commitment. They are overselling this resort and the "extra" weeks will be meaningless unless we take action. Send me your emails and I will organize an owner's group with a web site. Won't cost a thing but we all need to be proactive and not accept their BS.
Even your normal weeks may be unavailable as more people try to reserve the most popular weeks. Persistence does pay off, and plan way ahead. But they often just don't answer emails and put off phone calls and it is a royal PIA.

Timeshare owners stand together!

Steve,

I just purchased time a Fishermen's Village. I have already had some issues. I am more than willing to join your alliance. All I ask for is to get what I was promised and paid for!!!!!!

Shawn,

That response from Steve is almost 2 years old, and he has not visited this board in over one year (I looked it up to see if he was still active here)...so I don't think you're going to find the help you are seeking through him.

Not sure what to tell you about Fisherman's, just wanted you to know that this is an old thread and IndySteve hasn't been here for a long time.

IndySteve call home.....

Shammy: I have pm'd Shawn regarding another BBS and website dealing with timeshares - not sure if it's the same person but we have an active IndySteve there and there has been significant discussion about the Fisherman's Village.

regards,
Barb
