Bonfires, Do you have them?

Last night we had a bonfire with the friends, and neighbor's. The sky was very clear. We saw many satellites passing over. The kids did smores, While us adults enjoyed many adult beverages. I love summer here in MIchigan! Does anyone else have summer bonfires?

Hi Vic!

Yes we do, but call them "campfires" to help to keep them a little smaller!

We have a big firepit down by the lake with picnic tables and chairs for our use and for the use of our guests...it is magical.....and the adult beverages are pretty nice too!

I have very fond memories of beautiful summers in Michigan...but not the winters!

Say hey to Alisa from J&L....

Yes, we do. We have a little fireplace on our patio, and we have a ring for campfires down the hill from our house. Usually, any evening, nice weather gathering with friends/family includes a fire. With that said, we don't have them nearly enough.

We've seen the space station a couple times; once on Madeline Island, and once here. It moves very fast.

Bonfires are kind of frowned upon in a neighborhood where every house is made of kindling and dry grass. But there are sometimes events up the beach where there are no structures and they include bonfires. I've never been to one because I've always been warm enough already!

The times I've seen bonfires set here in Tampa, the Fire Department always showed up and put them out, with some comments that if you do this again, you're going to get fined...

When I hear bonfire I think of the huge fires, on beaches or at book burnings - so not those, no.
But most houses here have small firepits or those chimineas in the backyard, for firepit parties. We have ones in our yard fairly frequently, more as the weather turns a bit cooler at night later in the summer. I love the smell. And of course you have a fire when you are camping (unless it's dry and there is a ban on...then it's just not the same).

One of my purchases for the house about a month ago was a stainless steel firepit. Sets up nicely on a patch of dirt in my backyard just off the deck where maybe someday there will be grass. Guess I've got the prior owner's dog's bladder to thank for that!!

I just finished cleaning it out from our last fire a couple of weeks ago in preparation of having one with my honey tonight. I've got a package of marshmallows on hand just in case.

We also have a firepit in the back yard...just love it enough heat just to knock off the chill of the night air.

We have a backyard fire pit, and we love to have the neighbors and family over for impromptu backyard fires where the kids roast marshmallows and the parents sip adult bevarages and listen to music till all hours. Fun times in the burbs...

We have them and are tonight, we call the fire department to tell them we are having a cooking fire. Otherwise it would not be legal, we are small town with an all volunteer fire department. So they are everywhere in town. They've never said no when I call.

That's funny Ranger...we don't call the fire department, but it IS illegal to have an open non-cooking fire in our town, so we always have a package of burgers or hot dogs ready to throw on, just in case. Never had a problem yet.

It's probabley because of the "volunteer FD" and the chief lives around the corner.

HA HA HA BONFIRES in SO CAL!!!! Not so much.

Have you been watching the news lately, we finally have most of the fires (about 2000 burning at once) out and it's only July. I can't wait until September/October, it's going to be a bad fire season here.

There are a couple of the beaches that have fire pits and then sometimes you can go way out in the desert. Of course, when I was young that desert wasn't so far away but now we've built houses were there used to be desert.
