Back from Grand Riviera Princess

Well... we're back. Reluctantly. I totally fell in love with Playa! We really had a great time, but unfortunately we were all sick beginning the next day after getting home late Tuesday (more like early Wednesday). I'm still not great, and it's Sunday! Oh well...

So our flight on AA out of Newark was at 6:10. No sense in going to sleep, so I didn't. We left the house at around 3:45 am and arrived at check-in a bit before 4:30 am. Our flight landed in Dallas for a 3-hour (oops! thought it was 2) layover and then back on to Cancun. Me & hubby had our first cervezas in Mexico while waiting for our transfer!

We arrive... since it's Wednesday, there's no one in line and we check in in a matter of minutes. Our room is the last building before Platinum. OK, not really where I wanted, but so what! Everyone is so friendly, I have to say. We get a bellman and he gives us a ride to our room.

Day 1, con't.

We get to the room and it's got a king, not 2 queens. I called the front desk and they have nothing that day to switch us to, but she said to call in the morning and they'll see what they can do for us. They send a cot where my son sleeps and daughter sleeps on the couch. I called for sheets & blankets but still didn't get them when we came back to the room later that evening. My hubby got them from one of the maids who was in the storage room, so it was ok.

We were at the pool for a while and then showered and ate at the buffet (down close to Platinum). We weren't impressed with the food. They really need to do something about how they keep it heated. That, I think, was our main issue.

We headed out to explore and check out the lobby bar. I really thought I was getting a great shot of me and my kids... until I saw this... lol

Day 2 - resort day....

We got up pretty early and were getting ready to eat and then go to the front desk about the room, when they called us instead. She told us to come up around 9:30 and get a key to the new room and check it out to see if it's ok. I thought that was great that they called me first. It said to us that they were working on getting us the room we needed.

Breakfast at the buffet isn't too bad. My daughter ALWAYS found something to eat. As long as you get it and come back to the table, and don't hang around too much, it won't get cold. The servers are all so nice. We never had a problem getting drinks or whatever we needed. Very, very nice!

Headed to the front desk, got the new key to room 6258 (old room was 6101). The new room was facing the jungle, which was fine. It was on the top floor, which we liked because the thatched roof hung over the huge balcony and added character. 6258 was directly across from the main party pool. It was exactly where I wanted to be to begin with. Very centrally located.

There was absolutely no problem with the shower leaking in this room (6101 there was, but fixed with the towel). We left the maid's tips under the pillow and the mini-bar guy's in the fridge with a note request. He filled exactly how we wanted.

I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to do it right.
