Locals Book Exchange?
Would a semi-organized book exchange work out down here? Maybe show up and mingle/nosh/sip/assemble books for an hour or so, then have the giant trade off - you take as many as you bring. I'd be willing and happy to have it at my house. Any thoughts?

I was actually tossing around the idea of having one of these at Pinche Gringos. My only concern is that I'm not sure anyone would be interested in the kinds of books that I'm interested in, but if you're there I'm sure I can find something. I also have a bunch of books that people give me that I'm not interested in, but are good trade leverage.
I'm all for it.

I've got at least 30 myself. Should we just schedule an impromptu get-together soon and see how it goes? Maybe this weekend? Or is there a certain day of the week that a lot of people wind up in the same spot anyway where we could just hijack the event or... is it better to make it a thing only for the book lovers who show up?
![]() If anyone has more word on La Rana that may be the best way to go if it's already planned. By the way, Barb, it's fantastic to see you around here again! |

I was wondering about this for when I am down in Jan. I will be bringing 15 or 20 as I can read one a day on the beach.
Wondered if donating them to the Peanut shelter for resale- (buck or two) would be doable?? BB |

I'm not sure about the exact time, I think it's 3 to 5 ?? And yes it's just bring a book, or take a book. No big rules. If you don't have a book to bring you can just take one, or if you have books you can just leave them...

Great! Barb, can you be there Wednesday at 3? Heather, how 'bout you? I will plan on it!
(Oh, and Heather and Barb, if you want any of my favorite books, I hang on to those ones, but I'll be happy to let you look thru them and borrow anytime you want.) |

This is a great idea! How did I not know about the La Rana swap already? I am more of a book collector than swapper but I do have quite a few paperbacks that are "swap worthy". If I ever find the box that the books are packed in, I will be happy to join in the fun!! Gotta love moving
