It's always something
I guess Gilda Radner was right
![]() Wouldn't you know it. As the temperatures soar and we hit that 100+ for the next "I don't know how many days/weeks" the A/C broke down. It didn't wait for morning. Hell no! It had to be last night as we turned in for bed and both hubby and I saying to each other, "geez, we've had a busy weekend, and I'm glad to be in bed now going to get some needed shut eye." Today was supposed to be tile install day, but instead we're having every HVAC company in to give us quotes. Meanwhile, it's hot as hell in here. |

At least the A/C worked downstairs so we camped on sofas and mattresses.
But lordy, I am getting quotes and they're as high as buying a new car! There are the companies who send out winners (one guy said to me, "any questions?" Then he quickly followed up saying, "don't ask me anything difficult." Some come take a quick two minute check and write up a quote. Now that I have been hanging out on a an HVAC forum (I swear you learn more online than anywhere else), I find out that they're supposed to do a "load calculation" and ductwork inspection. None of the ones we saw yesterday did that, so now I'm calling out a company who spends a couple hours going through your system before they make recommendations. They're more expensive too, but it's an investment so better safe than sorry. Hubby is in a hurry and would pick the one that sounds good enough, and I tend to read a bit and be informed which takes longer
