A good yogurt

Is sometime hard to find in this country. They tend to be too darn sweet, or have artificial sweeteners. I'd rather have less sugar than something artificial in my drinks/foods.

Stonyfield Farm's yogurts are very good! They're organic as well, though the cost is a bit higher, I'd rather have less and have better.

Try them!

We can't buy that kind where I live. But I love Activia! It's the one that I find has the best taste and texture.

Dairyland "Nature's treat" is our fav. The only place I have seen it though is Walmart and not alot of flavors in the tubs. Pear and vanilla are all I've seen so far. We did buy a pack of small ones on holidays and there was tropical, dragonfruit, peach and strawberry kiwi flavors. We enjoyed them all!!

I've bought Activia and liked it, but this one tastes even more natural and less sweet. Plus they're doing their share to help the environment.

well...I'm a Weight Watchers' Core Plan member, and as such, the only yogurt on the plan is fat free plain unsweetened yogurt. We've been getting the Stonyfield plain yogurt, and that's not too bad after you doctor it up with Splenda, fresh fruit, vanilla extract, etc. But...we just discovered something called Greek yogurt, I believe the brand is Fage (pronounced fah-jay...says so on the package.) It is the MOST amazingly creamy and smooth yogurt I have ever had. I buy the fat free plain variety...it's the consistency of a rich sour cream/whipped cream...I still doctor it up a bit with fruit and flavoring, but ohmygod! It's delightful!

Stonyfield Yogurt - About Us
I love stonyfield farms...love the whole company.
I occassionally read their blog and I get their newletters.

Eileen...you can make you're own "greek style" yogurt. Take a large carton of plain yogurt, plop it into a large square of double layered cheese cloth, tie it up in a bundle and and hang it over a large bowl. They say in a cool place in the kitchen but I'm a chicken so I put it in the fridge. I tie the bundle to a pencil and hang it over an empty coffee can. Let it strain for 1 day for creamy greek style or 2-3 days for "yogurt cheese". The "cheese" is like cream cheese and I roll it into balls with herbs and put it into a jar of good olive oil for snacks on crackers. It'll keep in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Ooh, Kelly, that sounds fantastic. And olive oil qualifies as a "healthy oil" under the WW plan. (2 tsp per day is not a lot though!) I guess I'm gonna have to do a little experimentation with my yogurt. I know you're right though because on the carton of the Fage, it does say, "strained yogurt." I just never thought of straining it myself...duh!

Ya gotta be careful with commercial yogurt if you're watching your weight. Best bet is to buy all natural, fat-free, and liven it up with your own ingredients - fruit, honey, etc.

Personally though, I'd take artificial sweeteners over the high-fructose corn syrup that's often in pre-flavored yogurt any day.

Yep...totally...I think regular yogurt would seem kinda syrupy and less satisfying to me after all this time. I like to layer the yogurt with fruit and then sprinkle a little unsweetened cereal, such as Bran Buds on top for a little added crunch. Yum!

The olive oil wont soak into the yogurt so I bet if you dap off the balls before you put them on bread or crackers etc it wouldn't count as very much. I mix the oil, chilipepper flakes, chopped rosemary and crushed garlic first and let it marinate. I only salt and pepper the yogurt to tast and as I start rolling and placing the yogurt balls into the jar (short, wide mouth jar works best) I pour the oil mixture over them to cover. Now I'm hungry

I buy Riley yogurt as she doesn't like milk (the only one of my kids to not like milk) and I've bought Stonyfield Organic in the YoBaby variety and now I buy the adult version... also the All Natural by someone...

I won't give her artificial sweeteners (I won't eat them either--they give me raging headaches, so my body is telling me something about them) so I go all natural... but I tell you the sugar content is so high in yogurt... the frozen yogurt blends (that we call "ice cream" around here) have less sugar for a serving comparable to the little 4 oz containers she eats... with the same calcium and cultures....

I think the FBI can arrest you if you use Good and Yogurt in the same sentence!
