Screw this I'm retiring!!!!

Left on an RV vacation with Julie and the kids July 10th, first day back in the grind. Walking around, tank top, shorts, flip-flops, shades, 38c (100.4f), ice cold Sol, spent two weeks in Penticton, loved it. It's 2c (35.6f) here at home, raining, no more up until 2am drinking, up at 4:30am getting dressed in PANTS, SOCKS, 10LB WORKBOOTS,WTF!!!!!

I told Julie this morning, screw this work thing, I'm retiring next year. I used to joke with my father about "Freedom 38", looks like I won't make even that

Long gone are the days you feel relieved and happy to get home, now it's worse and worse eveytime we leave. A well oiled machine runs itself, phuck this!!!

A nice bar and small hotel will be under the scope this year in Playa........work sucks!!!!!!!!!

10 more years until we plan on semi retiring ...winters in Mexico, summers working seasonal jobs back here at home. I can hardly wait!

I highly recommend retirement as a life style choice, assuming one has "made arrangements".

That certainly sucks....is that normal for BC? Stinkin' hot and humid here in MN. And my steel toed workboots seem to get heavier every year.

Yep, retirement is coming fast for us........possibly 12 to 18 months. Then hopefully the 3 winter months in Mexico, spring, summer and fall here. One month in Feb 09 will tell us if we can handle it! I actuallyl have no doubt I can except for missing family.......son, dil and grandkids.

Me too, but not yet .

Things are happening at work that will make it better, but the new contract will be negotiated over the next 12 months and we'll see how that goes.

Key points I'll be watching carefully - any changes in provisions to early retirement incentives. Right now I can get a monthy bonus until I am 62 and health insurance till I am 65 - up to a cap that would cover all of my cost and a bit of Kathy's.

If those stay intact, October of 2010 would be the earliest - July 2011 the most likely.

And those dates are contingent on research progress on treatments/cures for Kathy's eye disease - it is getting closer, more stuff is going into human clinical research trials over the next 12-24 months. Could keep working forever if it increased the possibility of treatment/cure for retinitis pigmentosa

It's par for the course, summers are hadly that up here. Usually summer means 7-10 days combined of 25-30c (77-89.6f) and the rest is 12-18c (53.6-64.4f). Lots of random dips close to freezing from May to September, I hate it here. Last night I met Julie and the girls at her parents for dinner, drove the jeep with the top down. 9:30pm it was 6c (42.8f), froze my bag off on the 20minute drive@60mph.

Not just retire, but move the hell away from here too!!!!
