Oh! So, it's GOD who drops money in front of me when I need beer!!!! I'm going to have to rethink this whole atheism thing. It's been SOOOOO LOOONG since that's happened to me. It was sometime after my first communion yet before I decided I didn't want to get confirmed....at the age of like 14 or something.....

The murder on the bus was terrible and horrible.
What has me worked up is the fact that 39 other passengers where useless in doing "something", anything. I have known for many years that especially here in Canada, you are on your own. As usual the bus was filled with lambs. there was now one Lion amongst them. I am willing to say that if this happened in any other country the murderer would NOT have made it off that bus alive. People would have swarmed him and beat him to death and perhaps even saved the young victim.....at the least saved him from being beheaded. |

What I heard actually happened
was that many people were dozing or sleeping.....the guy suddenly took out a huge hunting knife and started stabbing the (also sleeping victim).Within a couple minutes, a very short time- as soon as the driver saw what was happening, he pulled over and stopped and yelled at everyone to get off the bus, which they did- once they were all off, he locked the bus and called the police. The other passengers would have all been completely terrified and in total shock, naturally. The guy was going wild, swinging the knife, no one had a weapon to disarm him....I don't blame anyone one tiny bit, I am sure I would have been scared out of my mind and to try and stop a crazy man with a huge knife is suicidal. I think the driver's duty was to ensure the safety of his passengers- he had to make a split second decision, I think he did the only thing he could have- he also must have been terrified. You are pretty hard on people, Elektra.

Electra,
If you are looking for lions, go to the zoo or Africa. Anyone who was on that bus will have enough survivors guilt and trauma to last them a lifetime, let alone dealing with bystanders like you disappointed with their "cowardice" despite the fact that more lives could have been lost but weren't. I hope the driver is given the Order of Canada for bravery and that you find some compassion in your heart for 39 people who bought a bus ticket and wound up on the ride from hell as well as the young man who lost his life. His suffering is over but theirs may endure for a very long time. |

I don't think the Chinese would want a particularly sadistic murderer amongst them, especially since the crime was committed abroad.
I believe Canadian justice will be better served by trying this case (or whatever option the Canadian legal system sees fitter, or has to abide by) on home soil since it is based on precedent and it will be richer because of it. If you see what I mean... |
