This reminds me of the little bit I saw on television recently while at the Gym. It was Oral Robert's ministry asking for people to "plant the seed" i.e. send in donations and it would be returned to them by GOD seven fold. They showed the people taking calls in the background - they were busy! Then there was an interview where this couple said they sent in $100 and received $1,000 Made me want to send in $10,000 right away

We have a Christian conference ground in our little town. We were across the street getting ice cream and I started talking to a lady who said she was from a group Unitarian Universalist apparently very open minded embrace of all religions. I think she said they called the Jewish group ‘U-Jews and the Muslims ‘U-Mus’

Disclaimer!!! I mean no disrespect to any religion, just thought it funny

Wow! I'm glad I could a source of venting for you today. All I did was throw out an opinion on the subject. Is it right or wrong, I don't know. But to get so much backlash from people here who I thought were nice people is a little surprising (Anna and TJ). I offered sympathy earlier to TJ about his dad, and immediate get attacked from him. I've PM'd you (about your hotel) before Anna and thought you were really sweet and get totally trounched by you over an opinion.

Take a look at this quote: God allows capital punishment. But at the same time, God does not always demand the death penalty when it is due. What should a Christian’s view on the death penalty be, then? First, we must remember that God has instituted capital punishment in His Word; therefore, it would be presumptuous of us to think that we could institute a higher standard than He or be more kind than He. God has the highest standard of any being since He is perfect. This standard applies not only to us but to Himself. Therefore, He loves to an infinite degree, and He has mercy to an infinite degree. We also see that He has wrath to an infinite degree, and it is all maintained in a perfect balance.

Second, we must recognize that God has given the government the authority to determine when capital punishment is due (Genesis 9:6; Romans 13:1-7). It is unbiblical to claim that God opposes the death penalty in all instances. Christians should never rejoice when the death penalty is employed, but at the same time, Christians should not fight against the government’s right to execute the perpetrators of the most evil of crimes.

What does the Bible say about the death penalty / capital punishment?
Actually Canada doesn't have capital punishment, so god allows capital punishment in one part of his world but not another? interesting argument.

That assumes the existence of a God (one), who gives some sort of divine right to governments to make choices like that.

That is an assumption that many do not share and that has no place in the government of the USA, though I understand that some theocratic societies accept it.
