Thank you!

I am ready to try anything. We leave tomorrow and will be in NO until Sunday. I know that I want to go by Pat O'Brian's and get a hurricane. Also, Cafe du Monde is a must. Other than that, seafood, Po'boys... all is good. We don't know if we will go to an upscale place, because it seems like the hole in the wall places are just as good.

I am about to break down and go get a box of Betty Crocker's brownie flour and some Haagan Daz French vanilla ice cream.

If you are a Confederacy of Dunces fan, be sure to check out the statue of Ignatius. I have a pic of it somewhere from my last trip. Oh, and crayfish etouffee--anywhere in the quarter! Have fun!

A bronze statue of Ignatius J. Reilly can be found under the clock on the down-river side of the 800 block of Canal Street, New Orleans, the former site of the D.H. Holmes Department Store, now the Chateau Sonesta Hotel. The statue mimics the opening scene: Ignatius waits for his mother under the D.H. Holmes clock, clutching a Werlein's shopping bag, dressed in a hunting cap, flannel shirt, baggy pants and scarf, 'studying the crowd of people for signs of bad taste.' The statue is modeled on New Orleans actor John "Spud" McConnell, who portrayed Ignatius in a stage version of the novel.

Must have been pre-winter coat.

As I snork down a slice of pizza.

Just visited one of my staff members that is rehabbing at our facility. She went in to have a blood clot in her leg removed, while in surgery they had to remove her whole leg below the knee. This is the direct result of 35 years of smoking. I asked her if she was thinking about quiting smoking. Her answer was long and muddled, but the bottom line was "NO"

For those still smoking and trying to love life at the same time? Thought I'd let you know?

Another college male is missing here in the Twin Cities after a night out drinking. Missing since this weekend. He called a buddy the night he went missing, asking where they went just before the phone line went silent. His buddy immediately reported him missing. The whole campus has been searching for two days. Not a single clue.

This stuff really creeps me out. Josh Guimond (a classmate of mine, and a best friend of a close friend of mine) was last seen 20 feet from my college apartment, 6.5 years ago. There has yet to be any sign or trace of him. The entire campus was covered in national guards, students, volunteers, horse back, and helicopters hovering feet above the ground searching for him. Our apartment, as well as everyone around us, was searched 6 times by 3 different investigational entities. We watched divers cut holes in the frozen ponds and creeks all winter, diving below the ice, right outside of our apartment.

There are a few theories being created through independent investigations, most of them linking over 40 disappearances of college-aged males of similar body types and personalities, last seen at parties/bars, with nearly half of the cases originating in MN and WI.

Just had to get that out. It's really bothering me, and this new case really has it in the front of my mind again.

OMG, that is horrible I understand how you feel about getting it out. I cannot seem to get over the young lady who was shot in my town this past weekend. It bothers me because (1) I remember seeing her around, and (2) That's our school so everyone is down and gloomy these last few days, which is normal and expected. Then I begin to over worry about my own kids...

As down as I have been these last few days, I'd still like you to keep me posted about what's going on there. ((HUGS))

Hole in the wall is my preference.

Some upscale dinning at the some of the hotels. Creole cuisine. Some nice Banana's Foster for desert?

Cafe Du Monde in the morning for coffee and beniets.

Across the street is an oyster bar. OH BABY! Fresh, shooters, fried, etc...

Bubba Gumps, and Margaritaville, Harrahs casino if you want some commercial fun. I don't recommend it though.

I prefer the quarter closer to the river. Decatuer st. Lots of good food everywhere. Open air cafes. Drinking is like Playa. Drink on the go in plastic cups.

Bourbon st is gross. But a must see.

Pat O Briens for a hurricane.

The Tropical Isle or Funkt Pirate for the strongest drink in the world, The Hand Grenade!

Also on Bourbon st is one of my FAVS! The Cajun Corner. Live Zydeco bands (right out of the swamp) As well as the menu!

Big tray of boiled crawfish, pile of deep fried gator bites, and a giant beer in a cup. Rustic, open, picnic table setting. Cajun music playing. LOVE IT!

Aside from that, a mufulatta sandwich from anywhere is in order. They're huge, plan on splitting one.

The oysters, gulf shrimp, red crab, blue crab (softshell) are all fresh and delicious. As well as my favs the swamp foods. Gator, crawfish, froglegs.

It is however a HIGH CRIME city. Stay with the crowds. Day and night. I have walked ALL OVER and when you're alone, it gets spooky fast.

Hope this helps. Street performers down by the river are always a must see. In front of St. Louis cathidral. JAX brewery is right there. ANY of the little bars along decatuer are fun. Again Bourbon st. is over rated and over priced. Full of college kids mostly. But a visit is a must.

Oh man I'm diein' here. I SO wanna go! Dixie jazz, blues, zydeco, sights, smells, on every street corner! It's sensory overload.

Ya'll have fun now! Ya here?

is it odder to me that it's males? I always think of these types of things as females... except for Dahmer, but that's a whole other class of creepy... were you of the profile, body/age/personality?

Hay Sol, the other night on the travel Chanel's Man Vs Food, they were in New Orleans and went to a place called Mothers Restaurant, the Po Boy sandwich's were the biggest I have ever seen. The shrimp one had huge shrimp and the oyster one look great.

I was, and I went to an all-male college, where about 85% of the population fits the profile of the suspects.

And yes, the fact that they're mostly very capable males is what makes it odd.

One theorist, a St. Cloud State University criminal law professor has tried to link them all together, along with the Jacob Wetterling case. Jacob Wetterling went missing from the same town as Josh, and there is no trace of him either.

This theorist believes that this serial killer probably started by kidnapping pets, gradually increasing in size. After he got his fill, his next target would be a child. After he got that, he wanted more. What would be the hardest target to obtain? An athletic male.

Again, this, like all the other ideas, are just theories. But it's really scary when it's still happening.
