My mom is a gardener. One year I made her a gift basket using a bushel basket with a nice set of gloves, one of those kneeling pads, a new trowel and some seeds of her favorite plants. You could certainly put crocs in something like that too.

Something sweet and sentimental and pretty for the nice grandma. Gift shop-y something. Like a pretty ceramic box or something. Something that says, "I saw this and it had YOUR name all over it."

Something cute from Anthropologie for the step SIL. It's a shop that only cool girls know about. Unless she's kind of a burnout, then she wouldn't like it. Is she a tough chick?

A sweatshirt with an old truck on it for FIL. That or and really cool retro trucker hat with the name of an old tractor company on it or something.
Excellent! You rock Sue! Not being a cool girl, I was not aware of Anthropologie. I don't think she's a burnout (yet). Definitely not a tough chick. Love the other ideas! I wonder if MIL has crocs FIL gets something tractor every year Nice grandma is probably sick of pink jewelry, so I love the gift shop suggestion. I'm just a terrible, terrible shopper. I walk into a store and I can't see anything. It's all just junk sitting there. I love cooking for people, and buying books. Music, too. That's the extent of my shopping abilities.

So what about scary grandma? Huh, huh? Nobody EVER knows what to get scary grandma.

Ohhhh, I love the gardening basket idea! Maybe we can include some native plants, because that's right up our ally AND I know that's the sort of thing they're trying to do with the landscaping.

I love you guys

I hate for this to come out wrong, but maybe something religious? A really cool bible or something?

I'd be afraid I'd buy the wrong one and then she'd hate me. Is that even possible? Are there more than one (other than old vs. new)? And what would a cool one be like? (Can you tell how surprising it is that she likes me? She's already disowned two grandchildren because of some ridiculous thing or another, so it's only a matter of time)

What is your grandmother's faith? Catholic is easy....Rosary Beads. That is all I have to offer.

NO-not Catholic. Yankees are Catholic. She is protestant- rosary beads would get me in the doghouse faster than Buddy Christ

And this woman is not MY grandmother. I just had to put that out there

Ah, Protestant. Then she is technically against all idolatry, so the religious stuff is out, except for the bible.

I just remember being a kid and going to bible camp with a Protestant friend (I was raised Catholic), and my parents found a "Protestant bible" that had belonged to my dad's aunt or something, and the leather cover zipped, and then the whole thing went into this cedar box. It was cool!

Ohhhhhhhhhh....Okay! Probably not a good idea on the Rosary beads then. Does she send letters? Maybe some sort of engraved stationery? Or some sort of unique stationery?
