Internet quit here a couple days ago. The modem was sequencing a strange light pattern I'd never seen. I called Comcast and they verified there was a problem. The service guy was just here. I said: "I've disconnected all the lines and connected the modem directly to a main line to rule out bad cables. I then cross tested the modem to another cable in a different room. The modem is dead. I am going to reroute the line and bypass the old line running in from the garage, then re-ping the wireless router and replace the phone line for good measure. So you can just swap me modems, give me a face plate, and write down on the call tag you were here for 2 hours, and go take a long lunch. " He ran a quick 5 minute test and said "Yeah. Okay. This is the easiest service call I've ever done. "

"Yer welcome. "

Maybe if my current gig fails I can go get a job with Comcast.

Uno the cable guy.

To be very honest, I did not like the first two light fixtures that you posted I prefer this light fixture. Maybe it's because I prefer cleaner lines, sorry

No offense taken.

My house is old, but I also prefer cleaner lines so I don't like most of the 'period' fixtures. So that's been my dilemma.

I feel better saying it, though.
Here's a Tigger for you if it'll make you feel better.

That is ok, but looks kind of industrial to me. I see that as more of a pendant over a peninsula rather than over a dining table.

How about this:

or this:

These are from Restoration Hardware.

Mercy- I had actually looked at that bottom one at the store. It's just a bit too large for this space. I don't remember seeing the other one.

I think I've been to at least 10 different lighting stores so far.

Heard about it about a year ago. Some hipsters went out and made their own documentary at sea on it that caught a lot of attention.

Here's the link.

A few of my environmentalist classmates from college and I have talked about it once or twice too. While there's a lot of hype about it, it really isn't a proper island. There are chunks floating around here and there, but really it's more of an area with a higher than normal concentration of inorganic suspended particulates (broken pieces of plastic and non-biodegradable garbage ). They show the hipsters jumping into the water, then getting out and pulling little specs of plastic out of their hipster beards and body hair. Then they cut to clips of them pulling out abandoned fishing nets full of garbage and whatever else they can find floating around that is visible.

I'm not trying to downplay it; it's just when you first read it, it sounds like there's something out there that you can get out and walk on. Really it looks like any other part of the ocean, until you put it under the microscope.

It is extremely nasty stuff either way.

Stupid people

ah. Yes, I DID get the impression at first too that it was made up of larger chunks....still gross though, I agree.

And yeah, stupid people.

That's why it's called a 'Schoolhouse' pendant, but see I always liked school so maybe that's why I kind of like that.

But I think this one is my favorite so far.

I was looking for the 5 light chandelier we have in our DR and apparently Home Depot no longer carries that style. I only updated our lighting about 2 years ago!
