I've been to Missouri a few times and it smells like chicken soup too.

I think Missouri is a wonderful place. I've never been there, but you and Danny and Barry and Phyllis live there. So that makes it a wonderful place in my book!

I still have not heard from the job where I had a second interview. I'm not hopeful, because they said I'd hear last week so I assume they put an offer to someone else, I just can't understand why they haven't notified me? I emailed the woman I'd been speaking with in HR on Friday and still nothing.

Email the head of the search committee. HR will not tell you anything. It's not their place. Sometimes if the dean or provost/ vp is out of town, that puts a stop to everything. That happens here sometimes.

Just did it! Thanks, I thought maybe that was too bold but they really need to let everyone know.

I don't think I got it. But I'm glad for both of these interviews. The teaching demos have been a good experience. I've got so much on my plate for the upcoming semester here, that I won't have time to be too disappointed. Well, maybe a little.

Great! It is not too bold to contact them. It demonstrates that you are interested. They really do need to contact candidates when they say they are going to do so.

You have a great attitude. I am a believer in things happen for a reason. About eight years ago, there was a job that I really wanted. I would have crawled on glass to get it. I made the last cut and someone else was hired. But what happened is that a good friend who was the person really pushing for me to get hired, did not get tenure. She is a big research hound and very outspoken. It was a huge surprise. She sued them and did not win. I would not gotten tenure there either.

A better opportunity will come up for you.

I went to bed before the box conversation started, but you can read back for yourself to see it was in the gutter long before you posted.
