I worked on the Columbia project doing design work. Back in my stoner days. Before drug testing. That sucker is still running? Nice! |

Actually all but a few of the bunkers are empty. Chris and I took a tour several years ago, right before they started to nuetralize the gas by burning it. They took us into an empty bunker and then thru the process of how they move them to the burn facility etc. Quite a process and extreme safety guidlines. I read that they are done with all of the sarin gas and only have a bunker or two of mustard gas to empty. When that is done they will look at a use for the bunkers, possible ideas are rent them out to people for storage (always a cool even temp and built to withstand a plane impact),. They would also make a good grow room for pot growers. People here are happy to have the gas gone as we are in the windpath if there were ever a leak and at 70 years old ya gotta figure they would be corroding.
