ah! I see.

I was thinking maybe you were like my grandpa. He used to drive my Granny crazy and go around at night unplugging every appliance not in use in the whole house, 'in case of thunderstorms'.

I don't belive our toaster has been unplugged more than once in the 7 years we have been in our house. That was when we got new countertops.

Erica, I am losing weight just being back at work, thankfully, maybe I won't need to start exercise....

i think it's the two less hours of sleep a day, mostly.
I unplugged it to plug in the coffee grinder. I live in an almost empty house and therefore very few spots with a counter and an outlet are available.

Yes, that would kill me. I'm already a horror in the mornings. Can't imagine how I'd be if I didn't get enough sleep on a regular basis.

Speaking of toasters. I just remembered to empty the crumb tray the other day. I think it has been a couple of months since. whoops!

I'm one of those "no appliances on the counters" people... just the coffee maker and it's so hidden in the corner, you can't see it

Same as Char, but we don't take it out at night; only when we actually make toast, which is only a couple times a week, if that.

We hardly ever intentionally clean it out; it just happens when we drop it our tip it a little bit every time we take it out of the lazy susan cupboard

Kind of scary, but we're the same way in this too.

The only permanent appliance on the counter is our microwave, which is tucked in the corner of the counterspace. Otherwise it's just a small flat screen tv on one side, and a knifeblock on the other....and the obligatory pile of mail a couple times a week...

Why don't they call it "Lazy Steven"......why must it have a female attachment to it?

E, I get about 6 to 6 and a half hours of sleep now a night....I was getting 8 1/2 though! So more hours of moving in the day is what I needed I think?
I think I get enough now....I wake up right before the alarm goes off almost every morning at 5:28...and I rarely feel tired.

Ah, now I understand about the plug-ins. I rarely have toast but Don eats at least 2 slices a day....he sure eats a lot for such a little guy. not fair!

6 to 6 1/2 isn't "so" bad, I guess. You can have it, though. I'm happy with more.

let's see....coffee maker, toaster, utensil 'jar', canister set of 3, microwave (well, that is on a ledge)...tin breadbox....phone...some funky set of three glass pasta jars with green and orange pasta in it....I think that was from the eighties...I think maybe it's time to get rid of some of that crap

My grandmother calls them "dumbwaiters"

I guess that's what they were called back in the 50's and 60's supposedly...

I need to google the history behind those two names. Why not "smartwaiters"? Or "Spinning Suzy"? Ha!

I thought dumbwaiters were the ones that go vertically between floors in old houses?
