I lifted up the flooring and saw it immediately....it is the guardian angel medallion that a woman gave me way back when I was diagnosed, before I even started chemo. I had always carried it around with me in the pouch that I keep my work proxy card and ID in...and about a year ago I noticed that it had been lost. I have no idea in the world how it could have gotten from my work pouch to a hidden corner of the trunk, but I'm just going to keep it where it is now.
That is cool Sue!

Nice to find missing things!

My first car, a giant but aging boat of a Mercury Marquis luxury cruiser, was given to me by my grandparents. Right above the ashtray was an adhesive plastic plaque that said "Sacred Heart Auto League" with my grandparent's last name under it (this is some Catholic thing). So, my grandpa managed to get their name off and hand write in: "Melanie D."

It was pretty awesome.

My mom is now in her 3rd nursing home in just 6 months- my dad could have been on an amazing world trip for what it has cost to try and give her quality care.

The first one was so bad- at $9k a month! because they were supposedly giving her rehab-I had to report them to the state. The 2nd one was much better- my mom thought it was her very own well furnished Victorian manor, but some of the nightstaff were tough, street fighting girls, which disturbed my dad. My mom actually did just fine with them; she's an alpha girl herself.

Which is why the 3rd place may not keep her. Somehow she managed to get in such a fight w/ one of the comatose 90 year olds, she stuffed the poor old girl's bathrobe down the toilet and tried to flush it. And wasn't one ounce repentant about it She said "It's like land of the living dead in here" when questioned about it (She's only 74 and has early onset Altzheimers, so she can't remember crap, but can fight about it.)

And it is, those poor old ladies aren't strong enough to get a spoon up to their lips!
And...
Damn you Randomites, now I want coffee!
well, I am hoping in 50 years things will have changed/improved and people will be living happy and healthy longer? You know, a cure for cancer, no more senility, etc. Pipe dreams.

or, by then the younger folks will just be killing off us oldsters as soon as you hit the magic number of 60 or 70 or whatever (what WAS that movie- where everyone was under a dome? )

I am really sorry about your mom. being that young and having Alzheimers, that has to suck. I think that has to be THE hardest thing to deal with.

have you watched Away From Her? I think I suggested it to you before? You and your Dad might enjoy it.

edited to add: of course, the old girl had 'movie Alzheimers' not realistic Alzheimers ....never a hair out of place, no screaming or yelling or violence, just mild confusion....not that realistic.

Well, remember, beerbreath, almost nobody aspires to look like their parents at 18. Plus, i think dressed codes have relaxed everywhere except for a few situations like interviews...some of it has to do with what is being sold in the malls- I went with a friend's daughter to try and help her find a conservative interview suit(bIG 4 accounting firm) and it was all short, tight and sexy, more appropriate for clubbing, see example below.

In fact, over the past few years, a lot of our female students show up for job fairs dressed more like this(actually these dresses are longer than some of what was at our job fair) because they see people on reality shows on tv go to work in these outfits. Of course where do these girls work? They own their own boutiques!

good lord

I shudder to imagine the reactions from the miners and engineers here if I wore something like that to work!

I would wear something like that to the Christmas party though. It's pretty dressy.

Well, maybe a little less skin and not so tight.

Those Kardashians are looking hot, though!

we have a relaxed dress code in my office. I wear jeans every day almost.

but tight and skanky and sexy outfits, like those girls, is never appropriate in any office I know of, unless you work at Hooters or maybe Vivid Nor is dirty or torn or holey clothing.

I find too many of my shirts show cleavage so I have to be careful and wear tanks underneath, or one of those band thingamajigs.

Word...I was so worried about what wold happen to my kiddo when she started driving, but so far it has been wonderful.

Team up with a few good Moms so you can all take turns with drop offs and pick ups !

As for nursing home....just because the cost more and are fancy does not mean they are better.

Nursing homes or assisted living homes are only as good as the people who work in the them.

Most states have ratings/reports on them that are public - check them out beforehand.
