I like pasties too. The meat kind ONLY, though.

Pasties wouldn't be much fun without the meat! Either type!

Sour dough works instead of rye.

Sounds tasty (well, not Mel's description, but Stephen's! )

We have quite a few Irish ancestry people too around here, and St. Paddy's Day is popular here too....green beer! But we have more Ukrainian/German/English than Irish, I think. Our biggest ethinic foods are cabbage rolls and perogies and kielbasa....and mushy peas.
I was talking about the canned stuff. Homeade corned beef is good. Though, why it's associated with St. Paddy's day I'm not sure. My Irish friends said that no one ate corned beef and cabbage on that day.

Love perogies!

I LOVE sourdough bread.

I make Caesar croutons out of sourdough....drool.

And this to-die-for spinach dip with onions and cream cheese and mayo and bacon and 3 kinds of shredded cheese....it's sinful.

it goes in a hollowed out sourdough loaf, put the 'lid' back on, bake in tinfoil, you know the one. Dreamy.

I love that! It's the only way I will eat spinach other than in salad.

I think it is really only an Irish/American dish.

Get a deer yet, Uno? Don ended up getting a nice doe a week or so ago. Looked for a big guy but no dice this season.

It's all nice and tucked in our freezer (the roasts) but most is at the local butcher who is making a bunch of spicy sausage out of it- yum!
Not yet. I made a decision this weekend to take one. Apparently the memo was leaked. I saw 2 does. They saw me first. I did have a big coyote run by me. After 2 hours of NON STOP rain. I quit. Next weekend I end it!

My grandma pan fries her pierogies. For whatever reason they are usually served with apple sauce, sour cream, or cottage cheese. Or a combination of two of those three. Not sure why, but it does go together.

I like the potato and cheese ones.

That is the only kind I like! And I boil them and then fry them in butter and onions, eat them with sour cream and lots of salt and pepper.

I hate the cottage cheese ones.

my MIL makes strawberry ones and eats them with sour cream. ew.

How are you feeling these days?

You will be 100% in no time!

And you probably won't gain anything, you will likely eat less naturally. You really have to do a lot of exercising for it to have a big impact on your weight. You should be able to do some walking soon?

Got something that looked like that in New Orleans once. It was a crawfish pie. It came with a cajun style mayo for dipping. It the best meat pie thing I've ever eaten.
