Why spend $30 for a converter box when you can receive the local channels over the air (with an antennae)? You'll only need the converter box if you have an old tv that won't accept a digital signal. Oh...and you'll still need an antennae with the converter box.

And most people will pay for Comcast since they want more than just local channels.

I have also packed cans and bottles of local beer from different points in the USA to bring home. Your idea will work fine.

I've always had good luck packing booze. Coming home from our last trip though. I had a bottle of La Pinta Tequila "not make it" That was a stinky mess.
Thanks for confirming my thoughts.
Was just going to take 2 - 6 packs. Wonder if 2 - 12 packs is pushing my luck?

I have a couple of days to figure out the flavor of beer I will bring.

I, like you have had the luck on my side bringing home full bottles.

Thanks!!!

Comcast charges 23.00 bucks just for local channels,so if you have an older tv you can just get a converter box instead of paying 23.00 dollars to Comcast every month. If you want more than the local channels the price goes up to 60.00 dollars a month.
Point is if you want just local stations, don't pay Comcast any money, you get them free.

Yes indeed! With the new charges that beer could end up costing and extra $50. Of course on the up side, if you stay under the weight limit, you will have lot's of room for La Pinta on the return.

After years of liking dry to semi-dry red wine, I now find myself hooked on these local winery's sweet Concord wines. Deep ruby color, sweet (but not cloying), and served CHILLED. I love it. It reminds me of a combination of grape juice and church.

I just bought a case of St. Julian's Concord for the cottage.

I just went through this 2 weeks ago for my daughter's apartment. The Radio shack guy said any TV manufactured after 2006 is digital ready so you don't need the converter. (Antennae yes.) I picked up a $20 antennae but haven't hooked it up for her yet. I will let you know how it works.

Babs is correct here that the converter boxes are only for old TVs.

A twelve pack, one of the few things I found gets lighter the longer you carry it.

Big kids grape juice? Right up my alley. In between beers of course.

Wow tv's older than 2006 are now called "old tv's".

Ah the good old days of backpacking. Start out with a 70 pound pack and get to camp with a 40 pound pack and a bag of empty cans hanging off my back. I don't do that anymore.
