good for her!

I just now finished helping my mom order two bathing suits from Sears online, for our early December Zihua trip. She has not had a bathing suit since she bought one for a ski trip we went on to BC about 20 years ago (for the hot tub).

This was a painful experience.

She turned into a jetsetter. She loved to fly. She had three back surgeries because she had all sorts of issues with her spine. To make her trips more comfortable, she flew 1st. class. I really got a kick out of traveling with her. She really loved that and all of the attention that she got from the flight attendants. They thought she was a cute little old lady.

I would like to take this opportunity to dispel another stereotype that real men don't eat quiche. Simply not true. Quiche is freakin AWESOME!

Now I could sport some Daisy Dukes... with a flannel shirt, wool socks, hiking boots, and a camo cap.

I say no to capris though.

And do you remember party lines? My Grandparents had one, and it was so frustrating to pick up the phone to make a phone call and the other people would be on the line.

I hear the McRib is making a comeback this fall. I know they're gross, but I'm going to get me a couple...

I remember party lines, we still had that in the late seventies/very early eighties when I was growing up on the farm. I think there was only a couple other families on our exchange....but yes that was annoying!

Amazing how far technology has come in the past few decades....or last century, I guess.

I used to tape songs off the radio when I was about 10-12 using a tape recorder. I remember more than once my dog ruining the tape with her panting or whining and me getting mad.

My grandma had a party line. I thought it was really cool when I was little.

So utterly frustrated today. I'm not sure where else to turn. X was denied for MA (he doesn't actually need MA because he's on my insurance but he has to get MA to get any other support services and eventually to get a waiver for housing.) The county denied him based on my income despite the fact that he is 20. I went to a housing session and met with someone from the county a week ago who recommended that I call the disability law center for help. They will not talk to me about the situation as X is legally an adult. When people say how backwards and illogical our government can be, I can see exactly what they are talking about. Sorry, vent over.

In the very late 60s, I lived in a small house (read shack! ) in a pear orchard on the Sacramento River south of Sacramento. We had a TEN PARTY LINE with General Telephone (now Verizon) because the area was so rural! Talk about annoying!!

The rent was $25 a month, provided we moved the irrigation pipes each morning and evening. I lived there with a couple and their 2 small kids. Eventually my boyfriend, who was the brother to the guy in the couple, moved in too. It was a very cozy arrangement, to say the least.

My room had a beehive in the wall, and during the day during the summertime when it's hotternhell in Sacramento, I would get honey soaking through the wall!

I didn't last too long ~ just a few months ~ before I decided to move back into town and civilization....

Ahhhhh...the hippy life!
