Oh Mogs
That was terrible. ![]() Snowed more here overnight and now it's blowing around. Blech. GOing to the city in an hour to meet a GF for brunch and then do some shopping/errands. Don came home last night, he was supposed to be gone overnight, but the fishing sucked so they came home. So now we can go to the Keg tonight with the gift certificate we got for working the bar at the wedding last weekend! It's the little things.![]() We are lacksadaisically house hunting too. Sadly we are looking in the same place we currently live. Which means I will still have a 60 mile one way commute. ![]() But we refuse to leave here....just too many good friends. ![]() But Mogs, that area of Seattle sounds nice. The boys will live. My parents divorced and they sold the farm when I was 18, I know how they feel, though. |

Went on my usual Saturday morning hunt in the briers. I came across the biggest rub I've ever seen in my life! Deer will polish their antlers up to impress the ladies on saplings and branches and such. This tree was 6" in diameter. THIS is a BIG BOY that that lives in here. Very cool.

Yep. Old breech break single shot 12 gauge. I love it in the "jungle" because I literally use it as a bushwhacker beating down blackberry briers when the deer trails lead me into thickets. I've spent as much time cussing, climbing, crawling, whacking and cutting my way through briers as I have actually hunting. I take along a pair of rose clippers to get me out of any really nasty tangles as well. Nothing more frustrating than being tangled up in the middle of a brier patch. (I tend to end up in that situation often.)
I only venture into the briers with a special late season tag I apply for every year. It's great stupid fun.

Oh Josephina, you are TOO kind....ya big chicken!
![]() So much for our dinner out.....it is so icy out there I saw three people in the ditch on the way home from my day running around the city....so we are cocooning on the couch watching Madagascar, drinking red wine, and I am making a big ole pot of tomatoey cabbage bean soup with lots of spices. Man, I love King Julien and the penguins. Next up, UFC!

How bout my Ducks!? I didn't honestly think they would beat Stanford. Nice gathering with some friends and family. I made a huge amount of beef fajitas, spanish rice and refried beans. Tortilla chips, various salsas, limes, cheese, cilantro, lettuce, and dozens of flour tortillas filled the table. An iced cooler full of cervesas, margaritas, juice and pop sat to the side. New York Kalua cheese cake for dessert. I was equally shocked all the food got eaten as well. (There was A LOT of food.)
My Great niece (17 months) was sporting an Oregon cheer leader outfit. She was the life of the party. She kept trying to crawl out the dog door. ![]() My buddy's son Mikey (17 years) Did his best "Man versus Food" impression. 4 glasses of sparkling pineapple orange juice. 3 pieces of cheese cake. 10 (yes TEN) fully loaded fajitas. ![]() He's about 6' tall and skinny as a rail. I thought he was going to pass out. Well actually he did right after the game. All in all it was a busy and fun Saturday. I can't wait to do the exact same thing next Saturday. By the way, good edit Jo. After I read back through I saw some set ups I wasn't thinking of. Too many words like bush, and whacking, and trimming, to pass up.

You have to accept that you are thought of as politically incorrect and viewed as less than civilized to be a hunter. I have chosen to shoulder the stigma for the betterment of mankind.
![]() I would take home and process an animal that was killed by a car except it's illegal in Oregon. I guess they prefer them to rot on the side of the road. Last edited by Uno; 11-13-2011 at 10:57 AM.. |
