Holy Toledo!
I just got an acceptance from my submission to Woman's World magazine. Possible sign of the apocalypse: yours truly publishes under the genre of.....romantic fiction. ![]() I'm so psyched! |

![]() Woman's World is kind of an inside joke in my family. My mom has been reading the magazine for years. We'd make fun of her because they always have a new diet on the cover that she'd want to try. There are stacks of them at the cottage---last summer I snapped a picture of my brother reading one and threatened to post it on FB. It became the family joke that Jimmy reads WW "for the recipes." Anyway, my mom was always telling me: you could totally write one of these stories. They have a mystery section and a romance section in every issue. I started reading them. Some are kinda bad, and others are sort of good in a corny, sweet way. It's not as easy as it looks to wrap up a mini-romance in 800 words. ![]() Now I have a fun summer project, too! |

I think it will be the end of April, but I'm waiting to hear for sure and will let everyone know. I mailed the contract yesterday.
I'm getting a bit of a thrill to think of something that I wrote being on the magazine racks next to the check-out, even as the lit snob in me is.....conflicted. |

When it comes to magazines with the same thing on the cover each issue, where does Cosmo get all those sex secrets. Everytime I go to the store, it seems there are 50 new sex secrets that every woman or every man should know.
How many freaking sex secrets are there? |

Oh my, lots. Note the difference in phrasing from Cosmo: sex secrets your boyfriend wants you to know; sex secrets from your gynecologist; sex secrets you can learn from your favorite movies; sex secrets your mother never told you; sex secrets for shy people; sex secrets from Dr. Oz; sex secrets every woman over 40 should know; sex secrets from porn stars; sex secrets from nature; sex secrets you were afraid to ask about....
