I was at my moms for the weekend. We went out to my cousin's ranch yesterday for lunch and to check out his new 100' by 40' greenhouse. Very cool. We are going to buy our tomatoes from him this fall. They have wo little boys and they set up a 16' pool in the greenhouse for them. What a nice little oasis-like escape from the prairie wind and great way to lengthen the pool season.

I brined two Hutterite chickens and roasted them with lemons and herbs in the cavity for dinner. Wow, juicy!! I think I will have to brine all my poultry from now on!

Sad now, long weekend is all over. We are about to watch One For The Money together. I watched it last night, it's actually pretty good! Love Stephanie Plum! Katherine Heigl does a surprisingly capable job as her.

I want to see that.

I have my Ohio summer tomato connection down; now, I need to work on my Michigan plan.

Headed to lake tomorrow for a week. Just me, Dad, and bro till the whole crew invades on Friday. I'm bringing: sweet corn, a big watermelon, Chiladas (in a can!), a pile of books, and a box of Pinot Grigio. Agenda: cornhole, fishing, riding around in golf cart, pontoon, pond if it's warm enough, writing, reading, chilling out! Lots of folks unpack their cottages Memorial Day weekend. We've been ready since early April.

Mel, that sounds like a wonderful week! It's raining cats and dogs here. I sure wish it was warm and sunny and I was heading to the lake!
