One of the stories was a man talking about his 17 year old son who killed himself after a bad trip on them. They sell them legally in the US (and I think in Canada too), because they stay one step ahead of the FDA by tweaking the chemical makeup of the product and the banning process takes so long...so they ban one and they just reformulate...etc etc. And they slap a 'not for human consumption' label on them and it's all legal. at gas stations and head shops and places

I've just been invited to yet another 'women in' conference
....Women in Mining and Women in Nuclear (we have a lot of mining and uranium mining here in Sask).... kill me now, this would be the third such luncheon/conference/reception of this ilk in the past year, and forgive me but I really don't get the point of them? Yes, we are a minority in the industry, and so what? We should get together and pat each other on the back for that? reminds me of those men conferences where they meet in the woods and get half naked and drum.

![]() I haven't been to my professional conference (AWP) in three years. I actually miss them; they are loads of fun. Booze + writers = mayhem. Higher ed conferences are much more likely to induce eyeball stabbing. Do we really need another panel on connecting to students on social media? NO THANKS.

See, now THAT sounds like fun....booze + engineers = not exactly mayhem .... and these are always during the day, no booze.I would far rather go out with the guy engineers when they get taken out in the evenings to nice restaurants and wined and dined by suppliers- now THAT is way more fun! ![]() My complaint is that there is nothing gained by having these all-women luncheons- they never even talk about anything to do with being a woman in a male-dominated sector, which would at least be somewhat interesting. They are totally useless. Much better to just have a conference on ground control or actual mining issues with both genders there. |

I found that alcohal video really disturbing on so many levels. It makes me sad and mad at the same time. How can the police bust èm for drunk driving etc. How can parents stay on top if they don`t smell like alcohal etc.
I have the horrid feeling that there will be a lot of deaths from this......... ![]() SpoonsÉ You mean when you have two back to back and clang them against your knee and sing etc.É Hey I lost my question mark. I used to `play`the spoons when I was little. My sister couldn`t leave the table until she was done eating. I would break them out to try to entertain her. I was probably 4 or 5.

I hate it when my keyboard suddenly and for no reason reverts to French Canadian!! ![]() Grrr!!!Hey, find any feet or hands in the mail lately?? ![]() Not that kind of spoons. It's a hard game where you put spoons in the middle of the table, one less than there are card players. Everyone gets four cards each, and there are groups of 4 of a kind. You pass a card to the next player until someone gets all four and then grabs for a spoon, then everyone has to grab- person with no spoon gets a point and the first person to ten is out, etc. It's kind of like musical chairs. We had a BLAST playing it. Our friends almost drew blood at one point, they were fighting over the last spoon so roughly. Yes, I am still 12. ![]()

I too am in a male dominated field, water and wastewater operator. We don't have luncheons but when I go to contact hour classes the guys either avoid me like the plague or pant after me. Am I married, what made me get in this field........etc. I hate these things but I need the hours so must endure. |

I find most of the guys who are 35-40 or so or less are A-oK with women around here, and the higher the education the better they accept it- in general of course- most of the 'educated' ones around here are engineers and mech techs and similar and those disciplines in school today are half women here, so they are used to it. It's the older guys, especially 50 plus, who have the biggest problem with accepting us. Although most are not rude or anything bad really, I just get comments now and then. Quote:
what are 'chonies'......Murrican for 'gitch' or 'gotch'? ![]() ![]() oh, and TMI!!!! ![]() I fell off the sugar wagon a couple weeks ago but after gaining a pound and breaking out horribly , I am back on the no-sugar eating clean train. But I have to say my very high fiber diet does not have the same effect on me....maybe you just have to accustom your system to it?
