Love Vancouver island and Victoria.
Nanaimo is home of the not so famous, but still popular with Riss nanaimo bar.
You can take the Victoria clipper straight to Seattle.
let me know if you drive down the peninsula.

You hit the perfect weather window....just perfect...

Had the best salmon jerky in a little fishing village on the west side of the island.

Hey, do you remember on the Beverly hillibillies when Jethro wanted to be a tough hollywood actor so he changed his name to Beef Jerky

Jethro is one of my all time favorites. Most educated of the bunch. When he would get to ciferin, Not into not = not. That's powerful good math right there. Totally over my head.

I just loaded the smoker today with 2 nice coho fillets that have been brining since Sunday. They are purdy. Tiss salmon season in the PNW for sure. When do those cohos and blue backs run by your place? (Silver salmon and ocean cut throat trout, for those that care). Someday, buddy. I will make it there for that!

Cut throat are here now, warm weather brings them up to the 15 foot areas and you can catch them with a cut plug herring. The silvers run in Oct., but we have not had a good run in a few years. They are all pen raised by the indian tribes??

Mostly crabbing right now

Was actually looking at going out on a charter this weekend.

Got a #100 of wild coho fillet coming in tomorrow for fridays lunch.

Probably why I like her so much. Well that and the whole art connection we have. I don't know another person that I can speak in old school graphic arts language with. It's a lost art except for a few of us old timers. Ruby lith? PMT paper? Halftone screens? The new art kids just give me a blank stare. Nevermind little ones, just sit back down on that computer.

The salmon and steelhead are heavy in the rivers here right now. There is a coastal stream I used to fish years ago for the blue backs. I haven't done that in years, and NEVER caught one in salt water like you do.

Dang! It is raining out hard, biblical proportions. Driving in to work it started out as rain, than pouring and than became that angry rain that pelts your car liked canned hams. Of course I left my umbrella in my trunk so had to run in to my office through the parking lot. Now I am soaking wet sitting in an air conditioned office shivering. Brrrr

On the plus side, I heard Young Americans and Diamond Dogs by Bowie, Wild, Wild Life by Talking Heads and, the best news of all, I got out of the car before Sailing from Styx started. That would have stuck in my head all day.

I am going to see her again, she is here until August 14th, so I will ask her. She invited me to come down again-if I do I will make a date with you.

Are you familiar with 'Stangos' restaurant in Glen Cove by any chance?

There are no friends like old friends.

Do you mean Come Sail Away? One of my favourite Styx songs! (I was a major Styx fan in high school...I wore out my Paradise Theatre album...tonight's the night...we make hisssssstoryyyyyyy... )

I think Sailing is Christopher Cross?

Mogs, what is not to like about Nanaimo Bars, I ask you? They are DA BOMB!!!

I think it is official title is I'm Sailing Away. Awful song. I saw Styx at Madison Square Garden in 78 or 79 (it was the 70's, everything from that decade requires a rough estimate) and everyone booed when they played that.
