It was supposed to be for enjoyment, but I did not enjoy it. If it was a necessity here, I would be living somewhere else.

I did it last year when we went to Colorado. I loved it. (I don't ski - because I cant afford any broken bones)...but - I have to admit - I liked the healing hot spring waters in Glenwood springs

Ugh! Brings back terrible memories of survival school. I went in Feb just outside Spokane, WA. We had 4 ft of snow on the ground. So, we were issued snow shoes (which made no sense as we didn't carry them on the jet!). They were the old bamboo style and the leather straps were well worn. So, I used parachute cord to fasten them to my feet. Needless to say, miserable!

I suppose if you had good equipment, it would make for decent exercise. Not near as easy as it looks!

Good to hear that you loved it. I will give it a shot, snowshoes are relatively inexpensive so if I hate it, my investment loss won't be too bad. (unlike skiing)

Snowshoe's are fun - it is quiet & great exercise. If snow not deep take them off & hike. (carry with you if want to go cross country)
Hint: stay on the path - it is not fun to start post holeing (sp).
Another hint: Rent - don't buy till you see if you like it. Any winter sports store that rents ski's will rent snow shoes. Ask for "trail" assistance from rental shop. Most will apply rental to purchase if you decide to buy. Pack a lunch (wine & cheese) - a bottle of wine. Drink lots of water. Dress in layers - take a small tarp with you to sit on for lunch.

Thanks! I will probably just start by walking around a few of the local gold courses once it snows. My neighbor does that. Get some hills in. I may end up being bored out of my mind doing this but I might as well give it a shot.

On a separate note, I crushed it last week from a calorie burning standpoint and switched over to a weight training program. However, despite that calorie burn, I had a caloric deficit of 6700 calories for the week, I somehow managed to gain a pound. WTF? I am hoping it is either inflammation from switching to a weight program after doing mostly cardio or water retention from the fat burning. I wouldn't be surprised if I had stayed the same weight but gaining a pound was unexpected.

I would worry less about the scale and just keep doing what you are doing...and enjoy.

With that said, the last two weeks I have been super low carb and working out a ton and only dropped two pounds I did however mow down on an amazing pizza the other night before the Gin Blossoms concert

Take a diuretic the day before weigh-in

Sedona is beautiful and the weather has been great, so we are going to attempt to stay until Wednesday instead of leaving Tuesday.

I have a weight loss challenge going with a friend so scale weight is only important for that. Winner gets a steak and beer! I am kicking his ass so I should win but gaining a pound over the past week has me concerned. Ironically, one of the suggested ways to break a weight plateau is having a cheat meal. I can't do pizza until I lost 25 pounds. I was hoping to have some pizza by Thanksgiving but gaining a pound sets that back.

I am sore as hell today from my back to back weights over the weekend. The good kind of sore, can't lift your arms pain. Love it.

A MAJOR beat down. Only way to describe it. I am the curse of away games, I need to stop going to them.

Miami was ON FIRE for this game, I've never been to a louder place (they play in the Dolphins stadium, so it's all pro sound and jumbotrons, etc..)

We did stay in South Beach, at least that was fun
