Cast of Characters in Playa

i finally got my pics from yesterday downloaded. I meant to do this last night, but by the time we got back from dinner, we were all so tired and bed was the only thing I wanted to do.

Me - I'm Beth, mom to 2, wife, a little overweight, shy, quiet but fun loving girl!

[IMG][/IMG]

Gerald - Dad, husband, and all around good guy

[IMG][/IMG]

Mike - The son

[IMG][/IMG]

Meaghan - The daughter, the least shy and most outgoing of all of us!

Lunch at HC de Monterrey

Here's the food from yesterday, which was amazing and plentiful! We were all stuffed by the time we rolled ourselves out of there to go to Mega.

Arrachera - served with a huge baked potato, 1/2 avocado, sour cream, salsa, a bbq'ed pepper (not sure which kind), tortas (not sure what the proper name is, but it's the small, round flat bread disks.)
[IMG][/IMG]

Pollo - Served with the same stuff as above

Dinner time!

So after an afternoon swim, nap and such, we headed out to 5th and to see what we could find for dinner. We strolled around for a bit, and the smell of one of the restaurants dragged Gerald back. I can't remember the name of the place (apologies!) but the food was pretty good and everyone was friendly.

The waiter offered up a marguarita and beer on the house for Ger and I, and brought Meaghan a ginormous Shirley Temple!

[IMG][/IMG]

Mike got to order first legal beer of his life. He's 18 and in Canada the drinking age is 19, so this was a treat for him. Sad for me to see him legally order a beer though... I can't possibly be old enough for this....

[IMG][/IMG]

We decided to order a huge plate which we could all share. The waiter said it was for 2 people, but holy cripes! 4 of us ate and we couldn't finish it all! I call it the "meat dinner" because essentially, it was a huge platter of sirloin, pork, and 3 kinds of chicken with a small salad and some rice. It was great though, especially for Mike and Ger who are meat LOVERS!

[IMG][/IMG]

Dinner was good, but halfway through the power went out and the streets surrounding us were completely black! The staff ran around lighting candles and bringing them to the tables. People were eating their dinners by the light from their cell phones etc. It was pretty humorous!

After dinner, strolled down the street heading back to the PH, and low and behold, about 3 blocks away we could see everything lit up! Ahhhhh... We would have air conditioning after all!

Mike and I took a quick swim in the pool to cool off, and we all watched a bit of Bond, James Bond on tv and then turned in for the night.

Hi Beth! We're here in Playa too, but I'm not doing any live reporting!

I'm surprised you didn't see us at Mega on the 1st. We were doing our shopping too, then went to El Fogon for dinner.

Now that I've seen what you all look like I'll keep an eye out for you in Playa! We're hangin' out in front of Shangri La on the beach, so if you take a walk north, look for our green print umbrella and beach chairs. We have a lively 11 year old with us who looks more like a girl than a boy (longgggg hair!).

Hope we get to meet you at some point!

Nancy

Glad your enjoying yourselves and I'm sorry to hear about your dog. It is tough.
We just had to put our dog to sleep as well. 13 years also
(I read it on your blog)

I love live trip reports!! I tried to do one myself and so I know how time consuming it is.........mine ran a day or two behind........

Don't spend too much time on the puter..........enjoy your vaca!!

Where is Plantation House by the way? Is it a condo?

I've waited for someone to catch our names in the background at HC's! To the right of your head on the bottom row and to the right of the fire extinguisher.
Wooohooo...Kim and Kenny......

LOL I was so intent on finding that damn sugar I could have tripped over my own children and not seen them!

We don't have any concrete plans at all but maybe we can set a date and meet up somewhere. We'll be heading to the beer bucket one of these nights as well. I'll keep an out for your umbrella!

Oh, I love all the pictures and the live report. Did Mike feel strange drinking a beer in front of you? Did he seem like he had drinking experience already, lol? My 18 yr old step son was dared by his uncle to drink a shot of bourbon. Before I could stop him he slammed the shot with not a choke or a cough in sight. Makes me wonder if he's done this before....... Keep us posted on your trip but make sure to have lots of fun too.

Now that you found it, relax and spend more time at the beach instead of the computer. And by the way, you don't need to hit the "imagie icon" when inserting your pictures, the code has already been included from PhotoBucket, that's why the "/img" codes are appearing above and below your pictures.

Hope the map has been a bit helpful.
