Beth,

We were in town last night and had dinner at Carboncitos. Russ (the owner) has been following your report and said he saw you and your family go by. I kept an eye out for you, but 5th ave. was so crowded we ended up going back to our car via 10th.

You have to stop by there for dinner! He wants to meet you guys!! He was so nice to give me some menus to use in my Spanish classes when the kids are learning about how to order in a restaurant.

Have a great day...it's another hot and sunny one! We're heading to Xpu Ha for the day, so we won't be out in front of Shangri La today. Dinner tonight will probably be at the north end of town. I want to try La Bamba Jarocha or one of the other Mexican places we haven't tried yet.

Makes me wonder if he's done this before....... Keep us posted on your trip but make sure to have lots of fun too.

I don't think he felt too uncomfortable, but I know for sure that it's not his "first" beer experience. Or any alcohol experience. Let's just say there was some "evidence" when Gerald and I returned from Cancun in February.

He saw us? too funny.. I kept looking for his place, but I couldn't remember what street it was on! 5th was PACKED last night! I thought I saw you and your husband on the street but then I wasn't sure because I didn't have your picture right in front of me!!! Maybe I should start walking around with my laptop hanging around my neck so I don't miss anything / anyone!

I do this pretty early in the morning when everyone else is still asleep. I'm an early riser. I love getting up early and having my coffee by myself while everything is still quiet... Ahhhhh.... And then they get up and ruin it all.

Day 2

Once everyone was up, Mike and Meaghan hit the pool for a bit, and then Ger and I decided to head out and rustle up some lunch for the kidlets. I found a map of Playa in a magazine, and figured out where we were going.

We made it to Mr. Kiwi which wasn't our original destination, but everything smelled good and looked wonderful, so we decided to get stuff there. With my spanish as terrible as it is, I was pretty proud of myself when I made it through the entire order in spanish.

The food was great!!! We ordered 5 super tortas, pollo, carne and vegetariana which came to 17 US. Not too bad. It was a LOT of food!

vegeteriana

We had lots of leftovers to have have for dinner too!

Once everyone had had enough, we pack up and hit the beach. Ger and Meaghan had been on Saturday, but Mike and I were napping when they went so this was Mike's first time at the beach here.

We walked down to Mamitas beach club and got 2 chairs shady for $8 and hit the water. The kids loved it, and Mike and I went out pretty far in the water and just hung around chatting. The water was so warm.

Ger, Mike and I all had a Corona (my beer of choice), laid around and had some great family time that we normally don't get at home. The kids seem to be really enjoying the trip so far. I was a little worried about Mike because he's not big on travelling, and didn't want him to be bored just hanging out with the folks, but he's laughing and smiling and doing lots with Meaghan, so she's soaking up all his attention. It's not something she gets a lot of at home!

Back the PH, and apparently all the walking, swimming and heat took their toll on the family!

Ger and I went out for a walk later while Meaghan napped and Mike caught up with his friends on MSN and I knew Mike would love the atmosphere of 5th so we went back to get them. Mike did a little shopping for his girlfriend and himself, we stopped at McDonald for sundaes (yuck.. not me, just them) and wandered back about 10pm. Mike and Meaghan took a quick swim in the pool to cool off, and I went straight to bed. That's me - early to rise, early to bed.

Beth, glad you finally hit the beach.
Your daughter is cute as a bug.
After looking at the pic of Mike on the beach I
am sure he wasn't too bored of it all.
That water looks just like I remember it.
Thank's again for posting "live from PDC".
Craig.

Day 3

Monday was a pretty quiet, laid back day. We didn't do a whole lot of anything really. We got up and played in the pool, then walked down to Wal-Mart to check it out and grab a few things for the fridge. I had looked for bagels at the Mega but couldn't find them. But, there they were at Wal-Mart!

We came back and hit the pool again. Here you see my daughter trying to drown me... Funny girl.

After siesta time, we got ready to go out for dinner but had to wait for the rain to stop. Off we went to wander around 5th and find somewhere for dinner. Mike wanted pizza, so we stopped at Bip Bip's.

The pizza was good, but I forgot to take a picture of it... Sorry.... 27US for a large pepperoni pizza, 1 Modelo, a huge iced tea and 2 Sprites.

After dinner we just wandered 5th some more. I bought a Jelly Fish lamp and I love it!

I had to get a picture of a Tequileria, as I'm quite partial to tequila..

We dropped the kids off at PH and husband and I headed out for a cerveza, so we decided to head down to the Beer Bucket for a quick one.

I didn't recognize any of the faces I saw from here, so we just went upstairs, sat back and drank our beer before heading back for the night.

Another installment!! Yaaayyy!

Cute dress, by the way!

Where is the "PH"? I can't seem to find any pictures or information about it. How did you find out about it?
How are the beds? Rock hard or comfy?

Ph, or Plantation House, is on Primiera between 14th and 16th, right around the corner from Playa Palms. I can't recommend this place highly enough! It's beautiful, for one thing! Very private, close to everything and well stocked. There's cable tv (Yah Cablemas!), fridge, stove/oven, air conditioning etc. It's really, really lovely! I found it here: Playa del Carmen Vacation Rental, Playa del Carmen Condo Rental - The Plantation House......Elegant vacationing

There are different sized suites. We have the Antigua Suite, which is the largest and sleeps 5.

The bed are AMAZINGLY comfortable - just right!

It even comes with some house guests if you let them in! These guys have adopted us for the week, although we don't let them in.

They are William and Lucy, and the owners here have taken very good care of them and let them live here at PH. There's a third one too, but I can't remember her name.

Mega is about 5 blocks, Wal-Mart the same. There's a great variety store about 1-1/2 blocks away. There's also a washing machine and clothes line for our use too. We'll be really sorry to leave here, but you can bet we'll book here again the next time!

They're not exactly

Looks like you are having a super trip!! I usually keep a journal on the trip. That way you have a permanent record and I don't have to spend too much time on the puter during valuable Playa time! Helps me to write my report. Your report is GREAT! Enjoy and tip the locals well!!!
