RPRM vs. Iberostar Maya/Lindo
Hi all!
Getting married next June, and have a travel agent that swears IB Maya is the way to go. Need some opinions from those who have been to both. I've never been here or to an AI. I usually do cruises. Please help! Katie

I just got back from the Riu Palace Mexico. We visited the RPRM and it seemed more crowded, less intimate. If you want a romantic atmosphere, I would check out RPM. Both were beautiful and offer the same dining and amenities. However, you may want to read my lengthy post under Riu Palace Mexico, because most of the people in our party got sick. I don't know anything about the Lindo, but I would consider that given that I spent my vacation in the bathroom.

We went to the Maya last February and it was great. It's big enough that if you have a large group they won't be tripping all over each other. You'll have access to the Lindo, Beach and Del Mar facilities as well as the Maya. The resort is kepy spotless and the rooms are fairly new and well maintained.
The weddings we saw looked awesome and talking to a few brides, they were pleased with the resort. Great pools for kids if anybody is bringing the little ones. A few bare pieces of limestone showed up in the ocean just off the beach after a day of large waves but generally the beach is a great place to spent the day - lounging or in the water. Don't believe the stories of weak watered down drinks either. A few members of our party never made it to dinner one night after closing down the pool bar. Most of all, we met great people from all over. Hello to the reunion people from Chicago and Austin. |

We have stayed many times at the Paraiso Del Mar, Lindo and Maya. We got married at the Maya in Oct 06 and had an amazing time. Could not have wished for anything more. If your choice is between the Lindo or Maya, the two hotels share the same wedding ceremony locations. The only differences I am aware of between the Lindo and Maya are that at the Maya you get the use of two extra a la carte restaurants and there are three private pools located in the Maya grounds that are only for Maya guests. I prefer the rooms at the Maya but they are a similar size to the Lindo rooms. If the price is pretty much the same, I would book the Maya but if there is any real price difference, I would book the Lindo.
We are off to the Paraiso Grand in 7 weeks - have you considered this as an option as it is beautiful, however it is considerably more expensive than the other Paraiso hotels (well it is if you are travelling from the UK anyway!) and it is an adult-only property which would be a problem if there were children in your party. Worth checking out as you can still use all the other facilities in the Paraiso resort. Cazz |
