Rockaway Beach, Oregon - Pictures

On Wednesday August 13th, I flew from Calgary to Vancouver. The next day Thursday, I drove from Vancouver to Rockaway Beach, Oregon with my family for my cousins wedding. Although I can't show any of the wedding pictures, because I don't have permission from the bride and groom, I did take some good (non professional) pictures, flying over the Rockies and of Rockaway Beach. So here they are, for those who are interested. ENJOY!

Mofi, the difference between Professional photographers and amateur ones is that the first guys make a living by selling their images, not the quality of them.

You should...during the days it was quite foggy and not that warm, but the sunsets where amazing, and the beach is huge, and sandy, and really long.

I grew up in Bay City, about 10 miles from Rockaway. Still have family there that we visit often.
Did you stop by a little shop named Beach Crafters? My wife sells some of her creations there.
About the only thing that has changed in the past 40 years is the name, never heard it called Rockaway Beach until 2-3 years ago. The Tidal wave in the mid 60s definatly changed the landscpe however.
Time marches on.

What was the name of the place when you knew it 40+ years ago?

Yes I think I went into Beach Crafters actually.

Edited to add: I was actually in Bay City on Sunday for a pancake breakfast at the art gallery or art center. My cousins wife knows a bunch of the ladies there, and my cousin is the featured artist this month for a movie he made called "Peace, Love and Paint" about the mandala that they do every year in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast.

Rockaway is a great place on the coast. We have been there crabbing for the last few years and are going there in September. We usually stay in a small town just north of there, name of Manzanita. We have found a neat older motel tah if you stay on the second floor you are overlooking the beach and surf. Good beach access (cross the road and you are on it) and miles of beach to explore.
Looking forward to it. Great pics!!!

I didn't go to Manzanita but I've heard of it. We stayed at some very nice, new townhouses, overlooking the beach in Rockaway. I think at the intersection of 101 and 3N
