I am so sorry. I know there are no words. I sincerely feel for furbaby parents and the furbabies themselves. My dogs are my everything.
I don't know if you have thought of this, but they do make this wrap thing that has handles on it that would make it easier for you to "handle" him. You could also consider diapers.

I am so sorry about Ranger.
![]() My sister and brother in law love shepherds as well and the first pup they had was so bad he had to put down barely out of puppyhood. The one they have now is about a year and a half and seems to be doing much better- but they sure are prone to dysplasia, too bad.

Our Sophie (GSD) has dysplasia in both hips. She's only a year old and so far the pain seems to be held at bay with giving her Glucosamine with condroitin. We also give her fish oil and have recently been told of Dr Franks I guess it was designed for humans but has had a very good effect with dogs too.
Good luck! |

I know, its heartbreaking. I am looking after my sisters house, and her 2 dosgs ( and 5 cats); one of the dogs in Cowboy, a 11 year old husky, the sweetest dog ever....its been months, almost a year, that he ca no longer walk well. it takes him a LONG time if he is laying down, to get up, he can no longer run, and sometimes he falls. its so sad, thinking of how much we used to run in the sand, with his beautiful, free husky run...
. We give him 3 types of medicines daily, with his food, they keep him walking. but he is in no pain (vet says). its just so sad. I hope ranger will be better soon.

Oh, I'm so sorry.
Our dog Woody is a husky/shepard type and this spring his back legs got so bad that he could barely get up. We took him to the vet, who put him on Rimadyl and glucosomene. We ended up switching the Rimadyl to Deremaxx, which worked much better. He was like a puppy again. What's weird is we took him off the Deremaxx in July but kept him on the glucosamene and he's fine. |

I did hear from Andy once that Deremaxx was more expensive in Mexico than in the states but he did also say that he had some that had been donated that he wasn't using. He was going to give it to me to bring home but we all forgot. Perhaps he'd give it to you? Woody ways about 80 lbs and was taking 150 mg every morning. I know that it worked WAY better than Rimadyl, which is more often prescribed and cheaper as well.

I am sorry to hear this. I hope your vet finds what is bothering him and can give you something to make it better. It is so hard when a loved pet gets sick!
Hang in there |

Well, I got some meds from the vet and started him on them yesterday. Cheryl and I used a blanket for a sling / stretcher to get him from where he normally stays (4 stairs up / 3 down) which he was basically stuck in as he just cannot or will not try. Cleaned him up a bit, difficult as he cannot stand, hopefully that will improve by later today. He stayed outside last night where he normally spends time and I gave him another ½ a pill this morning, will give him the other ½ when I get home. I want to be optimistic, but…. Thank you for all the help and kind words, we’ll wait and see.
