Okay, okay, okay...so the Bumpers might be considered to be just the teeniest tinyest little bit compulsive, but we like to plan things a l-o-o-ong way in advance. To that end, we've started to get our ducks in a row for our next anticipated trip to Mexico. We've already made arrangements for the first 5 days on Isla Mujeres for Feb 19 - 23, 2005 and are looking at various other options for an additional 3 - 4 weeks in Playa. Think we're being premature?
NOT!! Several of the places we were looking at are booked out already, but we're sure we're going to be able to get a bed somewhere. Anyway, we figure on being in PDC from approx Feb 24 until about mid March some time. Anybody else thinking that far ahead yet?
I'll tell you why I ask. I was posting on another thread, with a somewhat sports-related theme, when it occurred to me that we might look at putting together some sort of Playa Beach Olympics. I'm not talking
real athletics here, but fun type events all us non-macho, out-of-shape, never-were-in-shape, over-the-hill, couch potato types can participate in. You know, tag-team pretzel crunching, Flip-Flop throwing, full contact beach volleyball, taco tossing, individual and relay team chugalug, water noodle javelin throwing, one-handed bikini string tying, or
anything with an alcohol component. Perhaps we might prevail on some local hotelier or other member of the hospitality industry to provide us with a chunk of beach to employ for part of a day. Should be good for bar business. Mrs. Bumper and I would be willing to help with a lot of the pre-work and organizing, though I suspect we would all want to keep this as casual, relaxed, non-competitive, and unstructured as possible, in keeping with Playa's culture. Hopefully, we can avoid the necessity for mandatory drug and alcohol testing. (As former Olympian and Canadian national embarrassment Ben Johnson said, "Stereos? I don know nuttin bout no stereos!?!?) Thoughts? Ideas for events? Feedback? Snores and indifference? We're out of town for the next few days, but drop us a note and give us the benefit of your fertile imaginations. There's obviously no rush. Just based on the demographics of this forum, I imagine "Team Texas" figures on walking off with all the medals, but maybe we can come up with some sort of doping scandal or something and have them all disqualified.
