FrankO - unless your primary goal with your trip is to dive or snorkel, I suggest not spending too much time on the keys. The beaches are nothing like here on the Mayan Riviera. Now, the jungle - that's something else! The Belizean jungle is awesome. I highly recommend going to the little jungle town of San Ignacio, where you can go hiking in the highlands, visit caves, go on river trips, do some wicked horseback riding with un-explored Mayan ruins in the middle of nowhere and howler monkeys in the trees and visit the very nice Mayan site of Xunantunich (you have to take a hand-driven 'ferry' across the river to get there). Stay a couple of days in town, and a couple of days in a jungle lodge - very cool. While you're there, take a couple of days to visit the AWESOME Mayan site of Tikal in Guatemala, just on the other side of the border. Hey, why don't take a month and do the whole Ruta Maya! Seriously though, even if you don't have a lot of time, don't ignore this very nice area of Belize.
