"Coatimundi" by Bo Diddley from A Man Amongst Men, 1996. A reggae tune which incidentally also features
Jimmie Vaughan as the guest guitarist.
Here's the connection to Playa:
The coatimundi or coatí is a large dark or reddish brown raccoon-like mammal with a long white snout and a very long, faintly-ringed tail that is found on the ground and in trees thoroughout the Mayan world. The coatí is also found on Mayan hieroglyphs and is believed to signify the Mayan diety Zaqui-Nimá-Tziís, the great white coatimundi gray with age, mother of god from the Mayan creation story, the Popul Vuh. The Mayan word for coatí is chi’ik which also means clown because of it’s playfulness. Hence in Mayan folklore, the coatí is known as the clown or jester.
Now if we could only locate a coatí wearing a jester's cap for the Bumper...that would be a very cool avatar.
