I think it's freaky that you have to then dig him back up and give it to the buyer. At least according to snopes (that's why he's upside down??)

I'll have to ask my grandma about this one, V. Good luck!

Okay...I've found a site online that has a 4" statue and an 8" statue. Wondering what the difference would be (and please, no one say 4 inches..groan).

Would the 8" help my place to sell faster? I don't get it? They both will get the job done, right?

I can't imagine that (in this case) size matters at all. Just get your little Joe and go....

it's just a regular statue of Joseph... when you dig the hole, you turn him upside down to bury him... (did I miss something here?)

and, PG, it should be near the house, like in a flower bed or by the hedges, so unless you have a fence 18 inches from your house, you should be okay!!
she meant maybe he has already been buried upside down, in storage, all along...

Well, I got the two posts in where the fence comes up to the house, and I didn't strike any Joes in the head with the shovel...

So I think I'm OK.

Do you have a Catholic or religous store in your area ? (or is that just in Louisiana)
They are pretty cheap...I never buried mine upside down, it said to bury it facing the road. I was supposed to dig it up and bring it to the new home....but I dont remember doing it.

My Grandma works for a church, do you think I should have him blessed first? I can take him down to the Cardinal in Milwaukee, too!

I think you're supposed to buy a plastic one so the dirt will rinse off when you dig him up for the buyer's mantle...

This seems like an episode...of something?

Mellie, I was thinking plastic the entire time. What were you thinking they were made of?

Is this used only for homes or can it be used for undeveloped land?

I don't know. Like from a manger, out of stone?

I wouldn't put him upside down either. Maybe add some holy water to those cookies?
