Quick overnight at Ameristar Casino & Maroon 5
It has been very difficult to get together with my girlfriends for a quick trip anywhere (Playa or otherwise) due to schedules and other things going on in our lives.
The Ameristar Casino/hotel is in St Charles MO, and is just a few blocks away from a quaint little street with lots of shop, restaurants and bars. Normally we would spend the day walking the shops and having lunch, but last weekend we decided to check into the hotel early, fo have lunch and some margaritas, then get ready for the concert in the room. I met Kelly and Trish at Espinos, which is a really good Mexican restaurants. They have the best mango margaritas and also have Hangar One vodka which I love, so we thought it would be the best place to start. Jane was going to meet us later at the hotel. ![]() Trish and I ![]() Me, Trish and Kelkel I didn't take any pictures of the food, we just had some chicken nachos and guac (which was delish). I only remembered to take pictures once, which was at the very end of the night (which is strange given I was sober at this point and not at the end, lol). We left and met my sister, who was going to check us into the hotel. She gets special rates because she and her husband lose so much money there I guess ![]() ![]() Pulling up to the hotel ![]() Driving to the enterance The whole complex is really impressive and Ameristar has spent a fortune to upgrade and remodel this place. There is a Harrah's right across the river and so there is a lot of competition. ![]() Walking into the lobby of the hotel portion ![]() ![]() When we checked in they said they had no record of our reservation What a buzz kill! My sister was pissed and said "well, I guess we have a situation", lol. The girl did some checking and agreed to honor the quoted rate and get a us a room they have held back for high rollers. The hotel was sold out that weekend due to 2 weddings and a convention. We happily grabbed our key to room 1417 before she changed her mind.

We went up to the room to dump off our stuff before going to the casino for a little while.
![]() View of the Missouri River, looking into St Louis ![]() ![]() The room was really big, with a nice sitting area ![]() ![]() The view outside the window, looking down on the indoor/outdoor pool. The pool area is beautiful with bar service. We decided to come back here next summer for a whole weekend, it's close and has a great spa. We went to the casino for awhile to wait for Jane. Played some video poker and won about $45, which was cool. Paid for my dinner and a few drinks! Finally Jane called to say she had arrived, so we went to meet her and have a few drinks in the room while we all got ready. It is about 25 minutes or so from downtown St Louis, in St Charles County. We had a great time!
We had a few drinks in the room while we were freshening up. We had several hours until it was time to leave for the concert. Jane's husband was coming to chauffer us to and from the concert (what a nice guy!!) We headed down to the King Kat Club for some drinks and appetizers. ![]() ![]() The club has kind of a 50's lounge, cool vibe. Low tables and jazzy type music. We decided to get the martini sampler to see which we wanted to drink. They have 47 different types of martinis. ![]() From left to right---apple martini, carmel apple martini (yum) and a standard cosmo. ![]() Strawberry Shortcake martini, white chocolate martini, and a Hoosier Cocktail (which was delish). We also ordered some chicken spring rolls, a seafood trio with tuna, shrimp and scallop (1), and an order of steak fries. The food was good, but overpriced (expected) and sparse. We each ordered another drink, a Grapetini, which was just alright. Kelly had finally finished primping and joined us just in time for our ride to the concert! ![]()
