"Dish TV" vs "Direct TV" in PDC

Dear all well situated locals and seasonal transplants in PDC:

As a new home owner in PDC we elected "SKY" as our satellite tv provider. However after spending a couple of weeks and becoming familiar with the "SKY" network; it stinks for a non native - ie someone who isn't comfortable with their Spanish speaking skills.

Now this gets me to our dilemma, namely that we cannot use Star Choice of Canada, which I know is highly recommenced on this website, however it is not an option for multiple reasons. Therefore, we are left with either DISH or DIRECTTV. What I'd like to know is if either of these aforementioned satellite providers will work in PDC and is there a "satellite guy" who can install the satellite dish? Can you knowledgeable locals supply me with a telephone number or a local website for this elusive satellite guy.

Let me be clear, I am only looking to install the satellite dish on our roof top, but activate the system from our home in the US. Then, on our extended stays in PDC, transport our satellite box to Mexico. I hope this makes sense and is doable.

I need to move quickly so a timely response gets bonus points!!

There are plenty of English speaking channels on SKY, what plan did you get and do you have your settings set to English?

I'm not a local, but fwiw, the condo we rented last summer had Dish network and it had LOTS of English-speaking channels. In fact, there were only a few Spanish-speaking channels. We were glad to be able to watch the Olympics in English, whereas our friends whose condo had Sky were only able to see them in Spanish. It was coming from NY I believe.

I bought a "slingbox pro" and through my laptop have it connected to my plasma. From my plasma I watch every channel from my parents place in Canada......and the best is no monthly fees. The only cost was the slingbox and it was $200cdn.

I am not sure what plan we have but we configured our receiver for English. We find that SKY is geared toward a Latin audience, whereas we want more of an English US based system.

If there some tv plan that is exclusively for a english speaking audience, then by all means please enlighten us.

Thanks,

Eric
