How aweful! They didn't even say what resort.

I guess they have checked the jail to see if he was arrested? I just cannot imagine what that lady is going through.

So many questions!

Does anyone remember the couple that was on their honeymoom cruise and the wife wakes up and her husband is gone.

They had been drinking heavily the night before and she doesn't remember anything.

That was what I thought of when I woke up in MX Sunday morning. Good grief! I felt very fortunate that nothing horrible happened to either of us.

When we drink like that we do it right at home or at a friends house and take a cab. I couldn't believe we did that out of town, much less in another country.

I hope they find that man. I would guess unless he is in jail somewhere or just vanished on his own or of course unless the wife is involved, that he's gone for good.

aw, man.... so senseless.... he likely wandered off, maybe angry and likely drunk, and thought he'd go for a 'little midnight swim' or something.

The poor family.

Did they say he left at night. From reading it I just thought it might be morning when he left. If he was at an AI and it was night time and he had been drinking why would he leave the resort.

No, you're right, it doesn't say, it could have been any time of the day- sorry! I was confused by Michelle's post. I did a search and every one of the stories was the same.
He could have tripped and broken his leg, had a head injury or something, anything. I hope they find him alive.

I know it may sound odd, but maybe he planned on disappearing. I know that's not likely, but it's possible.

I've thought of it once or twice in my life.

Last year we knew of a young guy (20), staying at an AI, who probably got mugged (either that or he just pissed off the wrong people at the bar); he was found beat up and dumped off of a side road (he had been very drunk, btw). The police were going to throw him in jail, thinking he was just a drunk, but a taxi driver stepped in, seeing the AI wrist band, he took him back there. Very nice taxi driver!

Anyway, checking the jail is usually a good start, along with hospitals.

Keep hoping for a good outcome to this!!

I too hope all is OK, the only thing that really gets me is as soon as people here about these types of things they always get so down on travelling to Mexico. I can hear it now from my friends and family, you mean you are still going to Mexico, hell ya! Just look at the crime etc. in our own country. Not saying that there has been a crime committed or anything I really do hope all turns out well for this young man.

So right. Crime is everywhere. It's important to always pay attention to your surrounds. I've feel safer in Playa than parts of New Orleans or NYC for sure. Like a cab driver told me once in NYC, "Sure it's safe, but if you see a group of thugs standing in alley, DON'T GO DOWN THE ALLEY!"
