Oh drat... I don't know where to post things anymore. But Michelle did much better on her dress selection this week, even though it did get a little wrinkled in her sit-down with Laura. This one is just lovely, flattering, and so UN-boring compared to the one next to it.
![]() Interesting body language there too, isn't it? The Obamas truly seem to like each other while the other two seem tolerant at best. Pictures don't always tell the whole story, though. |

That is a lovely dress! I don't mind Laura Bush's outfit, either...but I think it would look better on a younger woman. The style is matronly, but on a younger woman it would work. Laura Bush usually looks great in her outfits, this one not so much. It makes her look older than she is.

Obama: No grudges against Lieberman
Posted: 02:23 PM ET From CNN Assignment Editor Lauren Kornreich (CNN) – Barack Obama won’t publicly weigh in on whether or not Sen. Joe Lieberman should keep his position as chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, the president-elect's transition office said. According to Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter, the president-elect doesn't “hold any grudges” against Lieberman and thinks the Connecticut lawmaker should remain a part of the Democratic caucus. "We aren't going to referee decisions about who should or should not be a committee chair,” Cutter said. “President-elect Obama looks forward to working with anyone to move the country forward. We'd be happy to have Sen. Lieberman caucus with the Democrats. We don't hold any grudges." Sources told CNN Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told Lieberman last week that he's considering revoking Lieberman's chairmanship on the powerful Homeland Security committee and instead giving him a chairmanship on another, less important, committee. Lieberman reportedly called that proposal "not acceptable." The full Democratic caucus will likely vote on this issue when it reconvenes next Tuesday, a senior Democratic aide told CNN’s Dana Bash. Lieberman, an independent, typically votes with the Democrats on a majority of issues, but was a fixture on the campaign trail for John McCain. Lieberman angered Democrats by attacking Obama throughout the campaign, most visibly in a primetime speech during the Republican National Convention when he called Obama inexperienced and said “eloquence is no substitute for a record.” |

What Happened Between Bush And Obama?, White House Denies President Linked Automaker Bailout To Colombia Free Trade Agreement - CBS News
The White House didn’t try to hide its irritation with reports in the morning papers that President Bush tried to wrangle a legislative deal with President-elect Obama. News accounts in the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Associated Press among others, said that Mr. Bush would support another economic stimulus package or massive loans to troubled automakers, if Mr. Obama gets the Democratic Congress to approve the pending Free Trade Agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea. Both the Times and the Post attributed their accounts to “people familiar with the discussion.” The A.P. quoted “aides to the Democrat” - meaning Mr. Obama. White House Press Secretary Dana Perino denied the reports and denounced those peddling it. “In no way did President Bush suggest that there was a quid pro quo when it came to (the) Colombia Free Trade Agreement,” Perino told reporters. Later in the day, Obama Transition Chief John Podesta also called the reports “inaccurate” declaring “there was no quid pro quo in the conversation” between the president and the president-elect. Perino was adamant that Mr. Bush did not try to create any linkage between getting the trade deals passed by a lame duck session of Congress this month, in exchange for supporting the stimulus plan and/or automaker loans called for by top Democrats. “I’ve also gotten several requests wanting to know if there is irritation at the White House towards the Obama team,” said Perino, “and you’re not going to hear that from me.” But moments later, she took aim at the “two anonymous aides - or one anonymous aide who is apparently telling this story.” She said some reporters told her that others “on the Obama team” urged them not to write this story “because it was inaccurate.” “So look, I’ll let unidentified aides defend themselves, if you guys can find them,” she said to reporters covering the President’s Veterans Day visit to New York. “But I can tell you here, on the record, not afraid to say it: the President does support free trade - that’s no secret.” But Perino again denied any “quid pro quo” between the trade deals and the economic plans. She said the president and the president-elect “have policy differences - but that doesn’t mean they’re not both interested in helping improve the economy for the benefit of American citizens.” |
