The budget proposal released by the White House back in February didn’t win a single vote in the Senate on Wednesday— the final tally was 0-97. Senate Republicans pushed for the vote as a counterpoint to the defeat of Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan.

POLITICO’s David Rogers reports: “The vote on the president’s plan turned into a rout, with neither Republicans nor Democrats voting in favor of taking it up. At one level, the 97-0 vote showed how out-of-date the February requests can seem after so much has changed in the spending debate already this year. But for Democrats, it also proved a convenient way to mask their substantial internal differences over how to proceed” on addressing the government’s fiscal problems.

Newt's running on fumes and charging supporters 50 bucks to pose for photographs. I'd say it's only a matter of a short time before he gets out, but I think there is the possibility he hangs on in the hope of a brokered convention. That's looking less likely as more and more step up to endorse Romney.

The whole car elevator story reminds me of something out of Batman. I have no problems that the guy is super rich, but come on. You know you're running for president. Is it really a good year to be building a car elevator on one of your homes?

Newt knows he can't win, and I am pretty sure with the exception of a few heady weeks when he was giddy in the afterglow of one of his 2 primary wins, he knows that. Newt is out selling his brand, building up his future speaker fees, his "strategic advice" and "Historian" firm (not to be confused with a lobbying firm) and selling more of his books. Oh, and inflating that massive ego a little more.

I guess we won't get to see those Lincoln-Douglas debates he proposed. I was actually looking forward to those.

President Barack Obama's re-election campaign called on Republican front-runner Mitt Romney to release his tax returns dating back to the 1980s, to see if they contain information about an uncommon investment arrangement at his former private-equity firm that may have helped swell his individual retirement account.

WSJ's Mark Maremont examines methods used by Bain Capital (under Mitt Romney's leadership) that permitted employees to take part in dual-class share structures of acquired companies that grew their IRAs.

The request follows a page-one article in The Wall Street Journal on Thursday that recounted how employees at the firm, Bain Capital, were allowed to invest their retirement money in companies the firm acquired, including investing through a special share class that could skyrocket in value in successful deals.

During the debate Geo. Stephanopolous caught hell for asking one (1) question regarding 'His' relationship with Bill Ayers. That was the last time any journalist ever asked 'The One' about Ayer's (Our Little Bomber).

I would be proud of a relationship with a full professor at the University of Chicago. I think our President was, and rightly should be.
