Were President O. I wouldn't allow another shipment of Chinese goods. Imported into the US. Until they the Chinese gov't guaranteed not to persecute that blind dissident and not have the chinese givt police beat the blind dissidents wife to death. To get the blind dissident to leave the US embassy there.

But then when has our present POTUS ever made a case for human rights??

Me too...I'm upset that they made a big deal out of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's outfits costing so much too.

Good thing they can relate to average people otherwise they probably wouldn't be so popular.

On a separate note:

This is what I speak of when I say Romeny should not choose an uber right wing running mate.

Here we have arguably one of the most right wing candidates saying Romney can't beat Obama yet she will endorse him. Of course she will...who else is she going to endorse?

In Edgewater, Va. A group of about 30 black ruffians attacked a couple of news paper repoters.

When the incident was reported to the local cops. It took the cops two wesks to respond to the incident. Plus the local newspaper didn't even report it.
Saying that they thought thr reporters may not have wanted the story in the news.

When there was finally a story about this in the media. When asked the witnesses of the attack. Said if you're an outsider. Yoei become a tatget.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- There are far more jobless people in the United States than you might think.
While it's true that the unemployment rate is falling, that doesn't include the millions of nonworking adults who aren't even looking for a job anymore. And hiring isn't strong enough to keep up with population growth.

The 86 million invisible unemployed - May. 3, 2012

Paul Krugman Unloads On Paul Ryan’s ‘Empty Boasts’ | TPMDC

Quote:

Sahil Kapur May 3, 2012, 6:20 AM 14057

Paul Krugman fired back at Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) after the influential Republican laughed off the New York Times columnist’s criticisms by saying, “I’ve always figured I’ve got three certainties in my life: Death, taxes and attacks from Paul Krugman.”

In an exclusive interview following the release of his new book End This Depression Now!, Krugman told TPM, “That’s not a substantive remark. I’ve never attacked him just for nothing in particular. I’ve gone after his arithmetic and said it doesn’t add up at all. And he has never offered a response to that. All he does is make scary noises about the deficit, with mood music, with organ music in the background about how ominous it is, and then propose a plan that would in fact increase the deficit.”

“So if he wants to joke about it, that’s fine, that’s his right. But he has not actually offered any response at all to my criticisms,” added Krugman, a relentless critic of both Ryan and the journalists who lionize him as a deficit hawk.

A spokesman for Ryan declined to comment.

The Princeton professor and Nobel Prize-winning economist argued that the Ryan budget’s deficit-reduction capacity amounts to “empty boasts” in its promise to offset large tax cuts by closing unspecified loopholes. Compounding that problem, the economist noted, is how Ryan has vowed to oppose new taxes on capital gains.

“So he’s just claiming that he can find trillions of dollars from no specified source and in fact has ruled out the only place you could find it,” Krugman said.

That's another silly, poorly draw comparison on this point.

But then you still haven't managed to acknowledge the validity of people in an "It's the economy, stupid!" situation daring to judge whether a guy with all Romney's insensitivity about people's economic situations should be the nation's leader.

Thats good of Krugman to call Ryan out his plan does suck. The problem Roni that i have with these guys is they are all hypocrites. When Bush was in power Krugman screamed bloody murder about the out of control spending and the deficit and now that Obama is at the helm it's Awe the deficit is not so relevant and we can spend are way back to prosperity.

Krugman did not scream bloody murder about spending during the most severe economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Different prescriptions for different economic times makes perfect sense.

Why? On the one hand we have millionaires that are very popular with the average person and wear outrageously priced clothes. On the other hand we have millionaires that are criticized for being out of touch with the average person for wearing outrageously priced clothes. So, No...it's no more silly than people making a stink about Anne's blouse!

I have an idea...how about the two candidates talk about what they are going to do to lead the country and we critique those ideas rather than their bank accounts or clothing choices.

We used to have some pretty substantive debates on this board but now they seem to have devolved into petty arguments over unimportant perceptions.

Substantive posts do not seem to get much response.

I still propose a progressive tax surcharge starting on Jan 1, 2014 for the purpose of deficit reduction.

I still wish the Congress would agree to a fairly even split between tax increases and budget cuts beyond that, for deficit reduction.

Why hasn't that happened? I know it has been proposed.

If middle class women like me and many of my friends can buy $160 Miss Me jeans, why can't a millionaire woman buy an almost thousand dollar blouse without being criticized?

They should not be criticized for such things and it makes the people who do such things only look petty. I only care about the candidate and his or her policies. Some of the bitter right has done such things to Mrs. Obama and I just hope those on the left can be more respectful of Mrs. Romney.

$160 jeans? I still get pissed when Kohls sells me Levis for $35 on sale and they tell me that's a great price. Can you tell I'm cheap?
