You know the angry old dude who said the economy was fundamentally strong and then suspended his campaign because the economy was fundamentally weak.

An interesting piece on April's unemployment numbers, The awful April jobs report: Is the ‘real’ unemployment rate 11.1%? « The Enterprise Blog

When you combine these numbers with a recent Gallup poll where 60% of respondents knew someone who lost their job in the last 6 months, not a comforting picture for an incumbent. In addition, Mark Shields (PBS News Hour), last Friday expressed the view that the real economic measure most voters use are jobs. He specifically excluded how well the markets perform.

A conservative think tank blog published an entry that was negative about the economy?

Just shoot the messenger. Easier than addressing the message.

Just respond with a strawman argument. Easier than acknowledging the source's bias.

Has anyone else heard that those that are drawing unemployment benefits in California are going to be losing those benefits this coming Saturday?

Do you think unemployment benefits should be extended?

How many times?

Sooner or later, we need to wean people.

I recognize jobs are hard to come by...but when do we say enough? Do we truely turn into a nanny state or do we put terms on unemployment that are/will be enforceable?

We will wean people when Barack Obama & his minions can no longer benifit from their pain.
He got elected promising people more for doing nothing & is trying to get elected with the same strategy.
He is the only president that has ever been able to convince people that unemployment & food stamps are a good alternative to a job.
It amazes me that so many are stupid / lazy enough to agree with him.
