Like I said east Texas. You get a lot of concrete shell Baptists in that part of the state. His core base is east Texas democrats.

Perry was one of the first democrat politicians that realized you had to have a "R" after your name to be elected to a statewide office in Texas. Ma Richards hadn't been elected as governor when Perry made the switch. Good old Ma was the last democrat elected to statewide office. Like I said, never a wrong step.

Stewart's opinion of Perry is pretty much what a lot of conservatives feel about him. Having known him for 15 years, I am still uneasy supporting him. Rick is thoroughly likeable, great conversationalist, tremendous sense of humor, and just something that is too slick about him. Perry reminds me too much of Clinton.

Mike,

Death in war is difficult, particularly for the families of killed servicemen.

That does not change the fact that the USA is in the process of withdrawing from Iraq.

Just saw Henry Kissinger on CNN. He has some good things to say about our President, including a statement that President Obama was "very close to objectives I affirm."

The interviewer asked Kissinger if he thought Obama would consider that a compliment. Kissinger say that he thought the President would consider it a private compliment but probably would not advertise it

Thank you! It's about time that somebody here on the right admitted that President Bush entered us into a phony war. Too bad the lives lost were real.

My point is too many people consider the withdrawal and "return of combat troops" the end. Truth is they are still in a precarious place.

Well I know I for one want to dedicate a lot of time to reading a long passage of quoted text even though there's no explanation for/of it and no source for it given. Thanks!

I think it is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Some of the points in Mikey's quotes post are objectionable.

Jeremiah does not control a political movement claiming a quarter of democrats. Hagee and Fischer and those others supporting and working with Gov. Perry do have some control and great influence over 25% of Republicans, who comprise a higher proportion of Republican primary voters.

That is merely one difference. Read the statements attributed to both and make your own call. In my view, the politically right-wing so-called Christians like Fischer, Wildmon and Hagee are far more dangerous and objectionable. I am sure that others disagree with me.

Why are the quotes repeated?

This is the best thing I've heard from Pawlenty.

Quote:
“President Obama said that he designed Obamacare after Romneycare and basically made it Obamneycare,” Pawlenty said on “Fox News Sunday,” adding: “What I don’t understand is that they both continue to defend it.”

Pawlenty assails 'Obamneycare' - Dan Hirschhorn and Jonathan Martin - POLITICO.com

Edit: I guess "Romamacare" wasn't going to cut it.

Anyone think Obama would have distanced himself from his spiritual leader if he wouldn't have been running for President?

I think it is incorrect to assert that Jeremiah Wright was Barack Obama's spiritual leader. It is correct to say that Rev, Wright was the senior minister of Obama's church in Chicago, and played a significant role in Obama's conversion to Christianity.
