If you don't know how many states there are, or the difference between a door and a window at the White house, why should you know how old your own daughter is?

Any evidence of Obama misspeaking (all of us do sometimes, especially when we are covered by the press 24/7) and then REFUSING to admit his mistake and DOUBLING DOWN on his mistake like Bachmann and Palin have done?

Just wondering...

(P.S. I've done the same thing with my own kids once or twice, and even a couple of times with my own age. You haven't?)

Sounds great, right? Here's the catch. The two parties I have witnessed in the last two days that were offered this program have a ton of equity in their homes, are gainfully employed and have never missed a mortgage payment. One of the parties are millionaires. Thankfully, they turned it down.
And at some point during his reelection campaign, POTUS is going to tout how, 'we have reduced the mortgage rates of....blah, blah blah.'
What a total crock of shit.
Bump.

Why, I have even gone so far as to say one child's name when I meant another. And I have heard my wife do the same thing.

It is interesting to consider the mental situation of people who consider that to be proof that we don't know or can't remember their names.

I didn't think my point really needed further support or emphasis, but OK -- thanks.

So you think it is ok to keep making the same mistakes that Bush made.
Not a very good arguement.
Obama is just like Bush, only worse.

Isn't that what Mr Obama said regarding his previous votes and current position on the matter? You're not implying the Republicans are no better than he, are you?

I think her point was to point out the patent hypocrisy of many Republicans in that, under Bush, cheerfully voted to raise the debt ceiling without trying to hold the President (or the process, or the nation) hostage.

I think she was wondering why (as was I) the many times Republicans like Cantor raised the debt ceiling under Bush was just no big deal, not worthy of great publicity or fanfare, nor (apparently) worthy of even a half-strenuous objection, and yet... Under Obama, the very same vote for the umpteenth time in his career is clearly nothing short of A DATE WITH FINANCIAL APOCALYPSE, worthy of fear, loathing, and an opportunity to hijack the process and hold the President (and the entire nation) hostage to their partisan ideology.

I mean - I just don't remember Eric Cantor or Mitch McConnell telling Bush "Yes, we may consider raising the debt ceiling, but only if you immediately cut four trillion dollars in spending."

Rather, I remember those guys voting to raise the debt ceiling and then turning around and inserting a provision in Medicare Part D which would legally prevent the United States Government, soon to be the largest volume drug purchaser in the world, from negotiating even ONE CENT of volume discounts from drug manufacturers. I specifically remember these SAME Republicans raising the debt ceiling, then passing Medicare Part D with the LARGEST grant of corporate welfare to the drug industry in HISTORY, and then celebrating with single malt scotch and warm chocolate chip cookies. That's what I remember.

You're funny, but you can afford to be; unfortunately, the Democrats are acting in much the same way, to the detriment of our country.

I really don't see how you can equate this to someone making a false statement about history and then when being called out on it, doubling down and sticking to their error!

Tell you what - lets wait until someone asks him "Mr. President, is your daughter REALLY 13" and then he comes up with some cockamamie explanation and sticks to this statement. Then maybe I'll see some equivalence.
