No, he's not. That was his whole point about how the govt justs gives away money..but the lefties didn't see it that way..just abused him for being able to take advantage of free money. Who wouldn't? Same way for alot of farmers receiving subsidies.

I think we should have taken our lumps a couple of years ago. Did not support the stimulus. The bailouts. Throwing money at a problem does not make it go away.....Obviously.

What do you think is going to happen if the debt ceiling is raised? Obama has warned that if the U.S. Congress fails to raise the debt limit in the coming weeks it could produce a repeat of the financial crisis. Do you or anyone else really think we are not still dealing with a financial crisis? The shit will eventually hit the fan. I would much prefer it be sooner than later.

i think they need to raise the ceiling
then they need to work together and raise taxes and cut spending in order to reduce the deficit

but the problem is that even when obama tries to do something that the republicans suggested before, they oppose it now

I think Obama and the dems are just against the "CAP". The senate wants their plan with all the hidden loopholes so they can just keep spending. That's what dems do..spend spend spend. They talk big about helping the middle class and the poor but they keep putting the country into debt so they can control our lives and keep more americans dependant on them. Hypocrites!

Mr Grossman was emphatic on how SS is the money of those that have paid into it. He has been for the last 50 years. And he hears he may not receive his check. I'm in for 30 plus years. I'm a little uneasy looking towards the future.

He says we will not be able to pay back the debt this country owes. And that it will play hell with the world economy. He actually used the word depression.

This all to him, will happen if they do not raise the debt ceiling. Lack of revenue he thinks is one of our largest problems. Tax the oil companies or remove the huge breaks they get. Tax those that are making billions and I think he may have said trillions of dollars. What companies are making trillions? Pharmaceuticals?

I think taxing those company's is a great idea I also think Tbay said it well. Those that have a little more can help a little more. I also think that there are a lot of people out there that should get off their asses. And I also know that there are a lot of people that get off their asses and look for a job. Legal and illegal.

What also scares me is what happens to the military when/if they come home. What jobs are available?

I along with Mr Grossman do not feel confident about this countries future. We also talked about illegal immigration. Have to say was impressed with his views. Even though he brought Muslims up before Latinos. How he brought them up was interesting.

So to answer your question. I would tax the hell out of everyone, more than likely cut some social services but nothing that had to do with the elderly, handicapped, or the military/va and pray to God we learn from our mistakes.

At least that is where I would start....

What would you do?

I am by the definiton of the Goverment living in POVERTY (the working poor ).. and most people the way they spend money at my income are... I choose not to live in debt to have things.. I pay for what we spend .. The only debt I have is a mortgage which so far has been a asset.

I cant say I know anyone at my income level that is not very very in debt due to overspending and living beyond their means... Hmmm that sounds familiar...See US Federal Govt Spending

You would be surprised how many people "finance" their vacations and hobbies via credit card ...... they really CANT afford it -have trouble making their basic monthly notes...but think it is ok to carry a few thousand dollars on their credit card.

It all catches up with them of course...and then in 10 or so years they file for bankruptcy...basically walking away from it all.
